They have had a huge drop in quality over the last 12 months or so. The old ones were great, the current ones suck.
Tony - try a little forum search, there is much written on cutters!

Tom -
I have one of the newer Cuban Crafters and it ain't that good. Your choices will probably be Palio or Xikar - I went for a Palio and so far so good.
I have had xikar for years, buy the basic one as the blades are the same in them all
Great cutter and lifetime warranty as well, someone used mine to open a bottle at a party once and they replaced it so probs.

I got the Palio after the Cuban Crafters fall from grace and it is OK but i dont love it. Not as sharp as the first gen CC's :(
Might take a look at the xikar now.

Anyone sent a CC back to claim on their warranty?

The problem is I order mine from the states .The P and P is more than the cutter so not economical to return.
Incidentally there is a whole raft of shiny cutters on the market that look similar to the CC (but without the backplate). I spoke to one big retailer after I observed that the ones they had on display were also a bit dull to the touch. They said they all come out of the same factory in China!

All I know is that I have purchased several for myself and mis amigos with no complaints. For the price, you can't beat it.http://smilys.net/smiley_pflege/smiley1925.gif
When I'm not using my punch (a Coro favorite), I always go for my CC idiot proof cutter.:41:

I bought a Cuban Crafters a couple of months back and although the finish on it is not that great, the blades are superb. For the price, don't rule the Cuban Crafters out.
