Hi,
Having experienced a major crash earlier this year, I pulled the hard drive out the laptop thinking I'd be able to just load all music back up onto the new pc again. Seems I was wrong. However, I have managed to get all the docs/music onto the hardrive of my newer laptop, via a caddy.

Reading around, it seems that I am able to get all my stuff off the hard drive and back into ITunes. Big emphasis on 'it seems...' as it looks like you can drag and drop individual songs, but with 600 odd, that's a task. Not sure if I'm missing something?

Anyone had any experience of this please, as I don't want to resynch and lose the lot. I've turned off synch for now. I'm also concious of The Walk's audio file is to be downloaded very soon.

Any help would be great:smile:.

Hope I don't have any problems...My Dell laptop is going off to Dell for a new Hard Drive next week and went out yesterday and got myself a 500gb Seagate external drive to back up all my files before it goes...

I am thinking it will be just the case off pluging it in and restoring all the files....

Fingers crossed

I think you should be able to drag the entire music folder and drop it on i tunes.

Aye, that should work. Just find the folders with your music, photos, docs etc and then Copy/Paste the whole lot onto the external drive..takes a while to copy over so spark up a stogie

Cheers Steve, the Seagate comes with a file back up button so used that the other day after choosing the files that I need to back up....

Went for a cigar and all was done in a few hours...

Got sorted, thanks to Boss giving me some very comprehensive tips. I wasn't able to copy folders complete, but individual 'albums' which got me out the poop:rock:
That back up via external should be a godsend Dale.

Thanks gain Boss.
