I may be late to the party but I hadn't heard anything about this.

This would be a big mistake IMO. Even people who have never tried a cigar in their life will take the tours just for the experience, and it`s additional revenue for the factories. I don`t quite follow the reasoning behind the decision at all.

Me neither Whisky, but it seems that Habanos dont tend to follow logic or reason most of the time. Just look at some of the cigars they have deleted recently.

I'm not worried, when I eventually get there I'll just say I know Nic :849:

"You didn't hear this from me.. but I heard he's got at least half a dozen international arrest warrants pending... A 'Modern day' Jack Maclean.. or so they say.. (Nudge.. wink)..
Anyhow.. 'shush'.. Here he comes... say nothing.. say nothing..

Seriously though. There was a big lock down when I was there in October but I believed that was temporary. Partagas is part of the tourist industry (but a great tour) so I can't see it remaining closed for long.
The others aren't easy to get into but I suspect things will ease.

Just as I was planning a trip to Cuba. :frown:
A factory visit would be the highlight of the trip!
It just doesn't make sense.

I misse out last summer due to food poisoning, so was hoping to tour a factory next time I go, disappointing news.
Very strange. If I ever make it to the holy land a factory tour would be top of my list. I hope this decision is reversed promptly.

Odd. Nothing happens in the factories that tourist haven't been allowed to see and the tours generate much needed revenue. So, maybe it's damage limitation. Something, that Habanos would prefer the cigar world not to know about, has been going missing from the factories on a too regular basis, something small, valuable and which could be easily passed to 'fake' tourists. Holograms and warranty seals for example.

The irony of fake tourists helping in the production of fake cigars for real tourists.

As people have said, visiting the factories is part of visiting cuba it seems a mistake to remove one of the highlights from the tourist experience.
