Cohiba Maduro Magicos (2007 vintage).

Ring gauge 52,115 mm, 4 1/2" in the length.

Appearance; the aged wrapper was of superior quality, the colour of the cigars is a dark Maduro as expected. Fantastic rich aroma on first opening the box and uniform presentation as you would expect from a cigar in this price category.

Construction; appears to be very good construction. The wrapper is aged for 5 years and the filler/binder leaves for 3 years. Beautifully aged and the cigars spring back into shape immediately when you pinch them.

Taste; full bodied.I smoked one of these when they were initially released in Barcelona and they remain consistently good on each yearly release. On lighting you are greeted with a fantastic smell of rich spicy/cocoa smoke and the spiciness continues in the taste for the first two thirds of the cigar. There are hints of pepper and this increases during the second half of the cigar, but it is in no way overpowering. The draw was excellent and the cigar burned consistently till the end. It certainly appeared stronger than the likes of the Siglo range and IMO it would be better to smoke these after a meal.

Summary; The presentation, construction, appearance, consistency and taste of the Maduro range means that it is always going to be one for the experienced smoker. An ideal smoke to have in the evening or after a meal. My only criticism would be the vitola is slightly too small for me personally and the Genios might be a better option for those who prefer a longer 5 " cigar.

Score; I would rate this as 8.5/10.

Cohiba IV,
thanks for the feedback.I have a box of the Genios which i will hopefully crack open within the next couple of months, personally i think they will be a better smoke due to the increased length.Really looking forward to trying them out and seeing how they compare against one another.

Glad to see these sound reasonable. I brought back a Secretos from my Barcelona trip and am waiting for some time to enjoy it properly.

Cohiba IV, once i crack open the Genios then i might consider a swap, exchange, or sale of the Magicos that i have left. Depending on the numbers i have left you could either make me an offer, or split the remainder of the box with some of the other members. It would probably not be for a couple of months anyway.

Just something to consider!
