I have been reading up on these and was considering getting some. The reviews i have read have been really good.

I was looking for some feedback on how everybody rates them.I`m afraid I am not up to speed on Dominican cigars at all.Have only seen them once in the UK.

I realise they are pricey for a non Cuban smoke, just wondered if they were worth the price tag.

Hey Mr77

I myself think the OpusX are over rated and very well advertised with a good band and thats it....:(

My mate Larry sent me one a while back and I have to say 'What a boring smoke' I was expecting loads of flavours and got bland....

Now I would say you need to smoke more than one cigar of the same brand to get a good indication on how good they are, and a mate got me a tin of three Opus X Fuente Fuente Robustos not lone ago, and I have to say 'bar a good cigar band' Not a lot to them... Don't get me wrong, they will do for a Bar Bee...but are no way worth the hype or the price..

But thats only my view mate...

I would spend my money on a Padron 1926 range any day or the A Fuente Anjeo...:41:

I remember Giga tried the Opus Opus X Fuente etc etc or somesuch...basically it's very rare and much more expensive than your average Cuban cigar and he was a bit non-plussed....he said he'd rather have had a CC:cowboyic9:

Senor Whisky, Mr. IV makes some very good points, but bear in mind, he is one tough hombre to please!!

I have had a few of these over the years and found that the quility of the stogie and untimate pleasure can vary from year to year. I was gifted two FFOXs Perfections A in beautiful individual red wooden coffins 3 or 4 years ago and enjoyed it very much. I still have one in my humi resting comfortably. Having said that, I have had some produced in later years that were not as good and, quite frankly, not worth the price.

Now, as a cheaper alternative, relatively speaking, you might consider the Anejo, which is the same cigar with a different wrapper. I tried one a few years ago and immediately searched out and purchase a box. The Anejo usually shows up around Christmas and hangs around for a few months. A google search might find a vendor with some in stock. Personally, I would look to the Anejo before the FFOX.

But you can decide for yourself, just try one before you buy a box.

IMO, a better choice at this time would be the A. Fuente God of Fire 05 or 06. I have smoked seveal of these recently and found them to be an excellent smoke.

I would never trust what TJ says. :mullet: But I can't argue with him on this one. :mullet:

...but then again... :mullet: I think I'll disagree with him out of principle on this one. :mullet:

Appreciate the feedback guys.Perhaps the prudent thing to do would be to try and buy a few singles before committing to a box.

My curiosity is getting the better of me, so I better give them a try.:smoke:

Cohiba is spot on!

I clearly remember my first Opus X: I was giddy with excitement at having finally been able to procure one of these expensive and oh-so-difficult to find stogies.

Meh.

No denying it's a good smoke, but for the price... there are just too many better cigars for less money. Both the Padron 1926 and the Anejo are two excellent examples.

The Opus is a good cigar with a GREAT publicity campaign.

(migh too sense)

I would agree that opus x are overated and over priced
I had one a few years back and kept it for ages before smoking and it was a real disaapointment.

Just didn't have that cubaness that I love

Wouldn't pay for another plenty more intersting smokes to spend money on

Nestled deeply in Fuente factory #1, past the Opus aging room is the Forbidden Alcove, where a number of the wilder cigar creations lay.

Awesome cigar shapes. I especially would like to try and smoke one of those grenade cigars in the back of pic 3. I bet it would take a full 12 to 14 hour day to polish one of those off. :41:
