I'm thinking of going. (Details below). You know I love my monte's.

Sounds like it could be fun, not sure of what time it starts.

Might try to get us a group discount if I could see a show of hands.

It's from 6.30pm to 9pm, I just got an email from them. I'm a member of their Cigar Smokers Club. It's free to join and you get updates on what's happening.

Deano

Yeah I am too. (Misplaced membership card though will have to find it). That's how I got the update.

Have to agree. I have just joined the cigar club, and recieved the email about the summer party. Nothing worse than turning up at these gigs, to know absolutely no-one.
By the way, I'm Paul. So, if there are any plans of getting a discount or group booking, I would be very keen.

Good to meet you guys there, I had a great time in London. I don't know what happened at the end of the night, I was talking with a couple of people towards the end of the evening and next thing I was dragged away to a pub. I'm not sure where I was or how I got back to the hotel..
You've got some really good cigar people and retailers there. I had very interesting chats with Simon, Jemma and David of Hunters as well as some retailers like Edward Sahakian and Ajay Patel.
I didn't make it out to the LCDH yesterday, I spent a large part of the day in a chair in JJ Fox with a cigar. I found some very good, hard to find stuff there. I got to have a look at the new sampling room they're opening upstairs, it will be very nice when it's finished.
Overall a great time, I'll do it again.

what are your thoughts on the Monte Open range for those who tried it? is it as dull as people have been saying?

I was initially against the marketing idea behind these from a "leave well enough alone" point of view but I quite enjoyed to one I had on Tuesday. I have only smoked one, the Regata (belicoso size) as yet but there were decent cocoa/coffee Monte flavours from it. Maybe a little on the mild side but to be honest that was about my 9th cigar of the day on Tuesday. I'd say give them a go, I believe they'll be out in a couple of weeks.

Gutted...!!!

I was at the party also, got the train up from Winchester at 11ish, went straight to JJ Foxs where Jean & Bill looked after me superbly with a SDN5 a Hoyo No.2 and copious amounts of coffee before going to Europas in Albemarle St where I had pasta Amatricana & a bottle of the house red before returning to Foxs to have a Nub(!!!) and a house demi petit corona. Then it was on the tube (nightmare as someone had thrown themselves under the train at Finsbury), finally got to Liverpool St at 6:45ish where I went straight to Devonshire Sq with ticket in hand to receive my Montecristo Opens 'Junior, Master & Regatta' (bit mild for me!!!) which was accompanied by lashings of Moet Chandon & Mojitos. Chatted with loads of people there including Simon & John from H&F, Armando the cigar roller & various others (If only I'd joined this time last week, hey ho!!!). Ended up leaving around 10:00ish as had to get back to Waterloo to get the train home.

Maybe next year...

List please !!!!!!!

Since you insist Nic

Started the morning with a Cohiba Panetela
Tour of basement in Fox with a Ramon Allones Corona followed by a San Cristobal EL Principe
Lunch in Boisdale's with a R&J Petit Corona.
Couple of pints with some guys off another forum with a Por Larranaga PC.
Cohiba Club at the hotel before the party
Started the H&F party with a Bolivar No. 1 Tubo
Monte Open Regata at the party
Came full circle Cohiba Panetela in the pub after the party with some of the Fox crew.

So I'm afraid the Monte Open was only my eighth..
The cigar of the day for me was the RA Corona. Incredible cigar.
I quite liked the Open though, I wasn't bowled over by it but much better than many of the reviews I read of it after the Havana festival.
