Why does my skype thingy say I am off line when I am online???

My "guess" would be that maybe your Skype username in your UserCP is wrong? Purely a guess

Nope,

It's because your skype settings are not set to be be visible on the web.

From Skype, goto the drop down menu "Tools" Then select "Options" Then select the "Privacy" tab on the left hand window.
Make sure that the "Allow my status to be shown on the Web" option is ticked.
