In Cuba - Trinidad and Vinales Valley

Has anyone on the site stayed in either or both of these places, please?

Seeking advice for a forthcoming holiday.

Particularly interested to hear from anyone about car hire, hired drivers and coach travel to and from Havana to these places.

And opinions about the condition of the roads and the sanity of Cuban drivers in the west of Cuba.

Sadly didn't do any 'independent' travel to and from 'Heavena', but there are plenty of tourist coaches that do the runs around the country to hotel complexes Bryan. If memory serves me right, we paid around £25 each, one way from 'Heavena' to Varadero. Not hugely cheap, but no dramas.

I've read that web access is few and far between. Is that the case, O initiated ones?

We're not allowed to take DVD players in there. I've spotted that in paperwork. Do I deduce that video cameras are forbidden, then? Anyone know?!...

Even if I can't document what's going on, rest assured I intend to lie back and enjoy a batallion of great Havana smokes all over the island, men! :smoke:

I think you can take video cameras in but be careful with mobile phones if it has built in GPS as that is a big no no !

One thing my step dad did tell me was that he had trouble buying singles to test smoke especially the nicer ones that were on the wish list i gave him.

Dead jealous but I'm hoping to go this time next year. Just sold my car to free up some cash for it.

Odd both me and my mate took laptops with a DVD drive.

We also took iPhones - with built in GPS.

Don't ever remember having a problem with cameras or phones during my time in Cuba.

I wouldn't worry about it!

Best way to travel any long distance in Cuba is via organised transport, but for small local trips taxis are fine.
