Been noticeing these lately and seem a little weird. The short answer is they are Spiders.
The long answer is too long and boring to explain here.

the slightly longer answer is the 'big' search engines send out spiders to crawl the internet so that they have an accurate record of what is out there. forums tend to be visited fairly often because search engines like to visit places that have new content and as forums usually have a lot of posts each day, the spiders make a note and come back for more.

The advantage to a forum is it is likely to rank higher in teh search engines and people doping a search will find it because it's nearer the top of the pile :)
