cigar problems

Hi guys , is there a thread outlining faults /problems people encounter when smoking cigars, eg some draw better than others some you have to keep relighting, though they may be stored in the same humi, some faq would be helpful, regards .

Hi Snooky. The fact that cigars are natural means there'll always be variations even within the same box...one cigar may smoke perfectly and the one next to it may be plugged or taste terrible or keep needing re-lit etc, etc.

Not much advice can be given except to make absolutely sure you're storing them properly. Try a DrawPoker device to repair plugged cigars...I got one off eBay and it's brought loads (£££££s) of cigars back to life....best purchase I've made for my cigars...that and Torcedors glue to repair cracks/splits etc

Thanks Stevie , always helpful, though rarely get plugs , on the occasion i find to gently roll the cigar between thumb and forefinger to loosen the leaf, i guess mostly as you say variations and storage are the main factors, but i find it frustrating when you cant leave a cigar for a minute and it goes out, then you panic and draw too hard or frequently to avoid the inevitable , which ruins the whole experience , maybe i should let them season for longer, regards.

the novice that i am, i find im getting better smokes out of cigars by regularly correcting them if they appear to be burning unevenly. lighting the side thats not burning and blowing through the cigar after

I've picked up a few things so far. I've got the majority of mine at 66% which seems to help with the problems you describe, and I've also got a tub at about 69/70% which I put the NCs and harsh or loose ones in. Aging seems to help in some respects too.

I believe if your cigar is burning unevenly, you should turn the unburnt side to the bottom . like at 6 o'clock and it will catch up . Hope this helps.

Not a bad idea , although i feel i need to leave them in my humi longer .
