Hello all,
I would like to let you know of the wonderful customer service I have always received at C. Gars Ltd (http://www.cgarsltd.co.uk).
I have used their online service many times, and once visited them at their London office (north west London, just off Kilburn High Road) to buy cigars. They only accept customers by appointment, but I was going to be in the area that day, so I called ahead and it was definitely worth it! The staff were patient, friendly and knowledgeable. Nothing was too much trouble for them!
I find their prices to be the best in London, and perhaps in the UK too. However, since I found this forum, I have learned that ordering from overseas can be even cheaper again!
But still, if you need a reliable UK seller with top quality cigars, and the very bust customer service, I highly recommend these guys!

Yeah I've found them helpful enough. I asked for an empty box with my first order with them and they sent some matches along too. Quick delivery. I'll use them if I fancy trying a couple of singles and it's going to be a while before I put a big order in.

Yep used them a bunch of times, and had the pleasure of meeting one of the owners last tuesday.
We often link to them on this site.

I guess it depends whom you compare them with. If you compare them with other retailers around London, then C Gars have great prices I think. But of course, there are cheaper ways to acquire cigars.
Great service is not always so easy to find however. :)

CGars Ltd are my 'go to' UK company. I've always received excellent service and advice from them, and everything I've ordered has been in tip-top condition (even the free bits I didn't order - though sadly no free cigars yet :().

Having been absent form the computing world since Friday evening, I've just opened an email from CGars sent on Friday...
They are offering free postage (up to £3.50 off postage rates) until midnight tonight. Use the code FREEPOST to take advantage. I might use it myself, chance to pick up a couple of singles without paying the P&P! :849:

Got a lovely ring gauge guide with my recent purchase (plus long matches). Not sure what I'd need a ring gauge guide for, but a nice though nonetheless  :pop2:

Gotta agree...placed a few orders with them (C Gars) of recent and I get the cigars very well wrapped the next day! They confirm dispatch by email, and follow up to check on delivery and customer satisfaction.
Competitive prices for online shopping within the UK too.

I've to say something happened today.
I got an email from Cgars today asking me if everything was ok with my previous order. After mentioning that I'd need new cigars (cuban samplers) I got an email asking me for emails.
That's what I call awesome service! Can't wait for Michelle answer and see what she might suggest for me :)

Used them several times - not the cheapest, but the delivery has been spot on, and the quality superb!
Cracking range of sticks too... and reading the info about managing vintage cigar stocks for people, with the owners smoking the profits is far, far too tempting.

Thought I should pop in and mention great service when buying as a first-timer.
Ordered a Humi gift set and a best of both sampler. Despatched the next day.
Funny enough they popped a freebie cutter and some matches in...Even tho the giftset contained both cutter and matches :)
Brilliant, means I get to keep a cutter in my travelbag. I have had that issue before when traveling, getting a cigar and then not having a proper cutter available.
I'm deffo using them again. Awesome service!!

But we're talking about establishments that are both online and B&M - surely one supports the other. Why would I bother to visit the B&M stores when I can get things cheaper online? Shame really, as it's nice to touch/smell/see the goods before buying, not to mention getting face to face advice...

Not always the case IMHO... think clothing stores, department stores etc that have online sales - prices are generally the same. Sure, it's not true in every case but most places that I know that operate both on the high street & online carry pretty much the same prices in both (exception being online promos).
The difference that I saw in JJF's between online & in store was quite significant: £2 to £3 extra on a £7.50 stick (online price) is quite a jump.
Anyways... live & learn... it's simple enough to vote with my feet/mouse.

All about overheads, an online business is far cheaper to run, department stores etc simply dont pass on the saving.
An online sale is normally carried out in a completely different manner, for example a days at a time or similar rather than the emplyment of staff to be there advising the customer.
Essentially it is the guarantee of said advice and service you pay for, which is worth it in certain situations (for me anyway).
If your not happy with the service, or know exactly what you want then a B&M is probably not the best choice...

Generally the answers about price delta on ecommerce vs retail are correct. Totally different sales levels and cost structure.

We had this raised by our Norfolk office Sales Team last year at their monthly sales meeting and they suggested that clients that wanted to pay internet prices in our chain should be allowed to as well as have the option of our ‘click and collect service’

So clients are now welcome to come to our retail outlets and have the touchy feely experience and then say ‘ hey guys I’m a C.Gars Ltd client gimme da internet prices!’ and they should get them without any hassle or with click and collect- order online and collect at retail. I can tell you this has proved very popular.

The problem with retail is that rents and rates are outrageous for decent locations. Range can never ever be as big as online unless……I open a massive retail cigar warehouse like a JR’s- hmmmm….there’s an idea I have been toying with for years. Pile ‘em high and sell’em cheap ! I would so love to do it and quite possibly will in a few months time.

Mitchell was in contact with me the whole way thru and offered to re ship the order several times, superb service you just can't get anywhere anymore - and it was only 2 singles not a few hundred quid.

I buy from C.Gars ltd mainly because I'm not going to try and save some cash by buying from overseas. If something is wrong with an order from C.Gars it will be sorted out (not that there has been). From overseas I don't believe the service would be as good and I'm just too old for being given the run around by a foreign company.
I also enjoy fencing (the sport) and buy from a British supplier that makes 99% of their products in this country. Never once have I had a problem that hasn't been sorted out quickly and painlessly. When purchasing overseas I can get cheaper equipment but forget about the same level of customer care. The equipment isn't up to the same standard either and in the long run it just isn't worth the stress. Also at some point it'll all go tits up and end up costing you the same or more if you bought British.
I guess that's just my philosophy when making large regular orders over the internet, only buy overseas when there is no other option.

I sell quite a few specialist tuning parts for fishing reels to the good old US of A, and have noticed that it now takes much longer for them to be delivered even using RMISF, either the Pony has become lame or Uncle Sam is taking a long hard look up every ones rear end.

I placed my first order with these guys this afternoon and am so impressed with their customer service. To start with they price matched without any problems which was great. What really impressed me though was that I made my order at about 15:45 and opted to collect it from their hampstead branch. I realised that I had missed the next day collection option as this only applies to orders placed before 15:00 but thought I'd give them a ring to see if there was anyway it could be ready tomorrow as I'm working in London in the evening. I'm not sure who I spoke to but she was very helpful and said she could have my order biked over if there were items that were out of stock in hampstead and said she would email tomorrow to confirm my order was ready to collect. I got the email this evening at about 17:15 saying that everything is there waiting for me.
What great service and how refreshing to find such service these days. Well done C.Gars

So I picked up my order yesterday from Robert Graham in west hampstead, what a fantastic little shop. It's packed floor to ceiling with stock and smells great! Everything I ordered was boxed up and waiting for me and was in top notch condition. To top if off they threw in a couple of boxes of cigar matches and a bottle of humi solution. I will definitely be buying from there again.
