As you may know, I mark tapes and teach kiddies for a crust - and play in a covers band for hand relief from the National Curriculum.

I have not brushed shoulders with an actual 'real' music showbizzer, but some of my bandmates who are full-time musos have done and still do.

However... I learnt last night that that is about to change...

I have to say - in truthfulness - that I play with some very classy players and deps in this band. I am not a ligger, and don't hunger to meet showbizzers, but it's a joy to play with people who are professional musos and who have been auditioned and chosen to play with 'names'.

This is a two-part competition for fun.

PART ONE
Name the people pictured below who have EITHER been accompanied by people in my band OR who have been accompanied by our occasional dep players.

PART TWO... AND THE REASON WHY I'M DOING THIS...
I will be backing a showbizzer very soon with the band, and you have to GUESS who that might be.

Have as many guesses as you like. The more absurd, the merrier.

Not Jane Macdonald, alas...

Drew - There is a slight chance you might work this out, knowing my patch, but please PM me rather than answering on here. lol

PRIZE
The winner will receive a copy of our latest CD.
There is no alternative, you poor creatures.

I will let this fun-fest go til the start of July.

Anyway...

These pictures are in random order and are the 'associates' of our band. (That means that my bandmembers or our occasional dep players have depped with, written with, performed with, toured with and/or recorded with the folk below).

PART ONE

Very interesting! Indeed! lol

Seems like most of them have been guessed. I don't know 12 or 14, but 2 is Carol Decker from Tpau. My pall plays drums for her now. He's ginger too.

Is this person you are playing with someone we have discussed before bryan?

PS I played a small festival and the act on after us was Jane Macdonald. Her management put a sign on the loos backstage saying "For The Use Of Jane Macdonald Only".... so we thought we'd rip the sign off and tell her to f*&k off.... then we decided to let her have the toilet to herself and used the area of mud in front of the toilet to micturate... so every time she went to the toilet she had to wade through a nasty pool of muso piss!..... Then we met her and she was lovely! Turned out the management guy was the twat! Well never mind...I'm sure she can afford new shoes.

My mate Andy is just about to play with Carol Decker. He (my mate) plays keys like a soul-boy whipper. He was phoned yesterday by Gladys Knight's (sp?) husband.

I swear on my life I am not making this up.

I think it's the IDEA of Jane Macdonald that makes me laugh. She reminds me of the club singer I had to back in a band who was from Doncaster and worked in a clap clinic. The guitarist in the band threatened to take a load of Disprin in the wings, so Margaret embraced him and they both broke marriages. He looked like the Yorkshire Ripper and was - paradoxically - a hairspray salesman.

Margaret had a life of sideline micturation. She received stools over the counter at the clinic and triage'd them. Playing in Working Men's Clubs was like taking the Eurostar to Avignon for her, loves. Or troughing Beef Wellington and following it up with the carrot.

Wow, George Michael? My wife would love to hear all about that one.

It looks like they've all been named so I'll just go straight into the guesses of who you will be working with:

1. Robert Plant?
2. Norah Jones?
3. Meatloaf?
4. That chick who played "Wonder Woman."

:mullet: > Or Kip Winger?

What an enjoyable night!
And what a thoroughly decent bloke Shaun Williamson is.

He hosted this event really professionally, spent time with people in an unforced way, raffled off loads of decent prizes with showmanship, told a load of very funny jokes - but stayed clear of blue, which was interesting.

He got up with us and did a couple of numbers.
Mustang Sally (lol) which is par for the course.
Knock On Wood - which we don't do, but did well.
Welcome to function territory.

He did it very well, and was very kind to us.
We got a group photo which I'll post later.

I thought about celebrity in its different divisions when driving home late. I haven't met one from any division before - but this was a fine start.

US BOTL - The guy is an actor known mostly for playing a character in our best (lol) soap opera. He was pushed to his death off a hillock in Scotland by Janine.

If you know Ricky Gervais (The Office, et al), this chap acts with Gervais in another comedy called Extras.
