When you go out for a drink, for example?

First of all, real friends are not surprised if I light up. They know I'm a cigar lover.

Non-smoking friends present when I smoke invariably say that they like the smell because it reminds them of their Dad/Grandad smoking at Christmas.

Christmas is definitely the association they make first with the smell of my cigars.

Ex-smokers love the smell of a cigar more than non-smokers, in my experience. They usually come and sit closer and sort of bathe in the aroma. Especially women who usually say that they LOVE it.

Which is just fine. :)

I cannot think of one friend who has taken exception to the whiff. Nobody has whinged and run a mile.

The only person that matters ie Mrs StevieBoy doesn't mind the smell at all. I smoke in the house but she insists I turn on the Csonka smoker cloaker, open the window and shut our bedroom door...fair enough I suppose

She only ever complains about MC from time to time. She thinks the smoke is very pungent and that there's loads of it :)

The wife asks everytime what kind of cigar is that? When I tell her its a cheapo she tells me it doesn't smell half bad. Now when I light up an Ashton VSG or Padron 2000
She always asks" expensive one ah" That has a pungent ,stinky smell and its wiffing through the floor boards. Turn on the fan. Me,Its already on. Wifie ,great, just stink out the whole house ! LMAO
I have a few buddys I have cook outs with and their famlies are fine with me firing up a big ole stoogie. But all their hubbys partake in our same habit LOL. Most that don't know us think its a dirty filthy habit and rather not be near us,
"Sucks to be them! Have a safe weekend and see U sunday ,:frown:

My wife doesn't mind, but she's a ciggie smoker :der:.

I hang out most often with a like minded buddy who knows a good smoke when he see's one.

I agree with you Robusto, when we are out it's most often compliments or appreciation, and again the women love it... Which as you so rightly point out is A-OK :smoke:

My stick whiff is generally well received and it's true: often non-smokers find it 'nice' from a lil distance. My wife, as I 've posted elsewhere, has had a definite aversion to all smells puro since being pregnant. She even thinks she can smell them from in the humi! I do hope she feels different after the birth as the baby is due in November and she's going to get cold outside while I tug on a phat one:p:biggrin1:

If Im out with people I tend to only smoke if I know they are like minded, last time we had a herf in Holborn the table next to us left when we started to spark up which I felt bad about for all of 30seconds then I thought fuck em, they can sit anywhere they like inside or out we have no choice here..
