I'm in the middle of translating a document for a World War Two Spitfire Museum into French for a friend.

I am used to using ALT +150 (or whichever three numbers on the numeric keypad) to bring up accents to get

ç

é

ê

and so on.

But how do I get accents on a laptop WITHOUT a numeric keypad?

PLEASE solve this for me!

Bryan

Have you tried "Insert Symbol" function Red Leader?. From memory you can assign a character to a function key, any way if that's not right I suggest you barrel over to Deano.

My laptop types with a Geordie accent.

Which reminds me of my favourite bumper sticker which read:

"Gan Canny, were Geordies"

There's a character map in Windows that should help you fine. Unless you're using Word - there should be a symbol insert function you can use.

YOu can use the Alt Gr button and the normal character of the one you want the accent with I think

Je suis allé á au tabac du coin oú je me suis offert de superbes havanes.
J'ai fumé avec grand plaisir dans ma SPITFIRE et j'ai mitraillé des Bosch.

ALMOST right Missy Hog.
I'll investigate later, my man.
Thank you a lot! :cowboyic9:
