Yesterday was D-Day... Partagas Serie D Day. I put the No. 4 through its paces. First on its own, then with a robust red wine. There are simply not enough words to describe this cigar, except for the fact that it is one of 'THE' best cigars you could ever smoke.

Very nicely constructed cigar which felt good in the hand, perfect pre-lit draw and the wrapper was a beautiful rich oily golden brown colour. Once lit the Partagas peppery taste is very present and that great Cuban tobacco taste with cedar, earth, wood, leather and strong spice being the dominant flavours. The No. 4 burnt perfectly from start to finish delivering rich sumptuous clouds of smoke that give off a strong chocolatey, mocha coffee fragrance.

In my opinion, pound for pound this is the best robusto money can buy, they have a beautifully rich flavour that doesn't overpower. This is Partagas' signature cigar…

Cheers, HabanoSy

I used to smoke these on a regular basis Habanosy, and they are very good, however over the past few years the consistancy in construction has been lacking IMO.

I think this is why some people now prefer some of the lesser known Robustos.

Having said all that I still reckon the P No2 is still one of the best pyramids in its class. :41:

I absolutely love them, need aging (I don't know why I bother saying it, they all do) and are so sweet and adorable. Fecking love 'em.

I think HdM 2's may have pipped them as my favourite Robusto though. Just.

For me, the Partagas D4 is a sublime smoke.

I have 25 newly received ones resting in my humidor.

Underneath them slumber 25 newly received Juan Lopez No2s.

There are loads of gate crashers upstairs and downstairs at this party.

I swear to God I shove my head in there for the aroma of great sex.

Lighting either of these and enjoying 90 minutes or so is absolute bliss.

At the moment, I am vacillating between a D4 and a JL2 as my cigar of choice.

Whenever I toke on the other, it becomes my favourite!

I do love the loud confident red band on the Partagas D4.

My boys identify that band as 'Dad's favourite cigar'.

I'm stuck at work and am now moist-mouthed and gagging for one, frankly.

Whenever I read a post from Robusto I sometimes feel like I have been reading a dirty porn mag or the like! :P

I love the D4, not had one in ages though. My only concern is due to its increasing popularity the consistency may suffer, like the Monte No.2 IMO

I still think the Lusis or PNo2 is a far better smoke.

Partagas Robusto ...... aaah!
One of my favourite chill-out smokes. I'm quite a picky cigar smoker but the Serie D No 4 never fails me. I once read a review that described it as a conoisseur's cigar - whereas the City Boys (of which I was once one) dive straight for the Cohibas. Amen to that.

Great review.

100% agree with all comments that this is a class robusto.

Seems the PSD4 gets consistently good reviews, i have noticed that the wrapper is the darkest out of my little collection of cigars. Im not sure if darkness equates to more flavour but im very interested to find out! :smoke:
