Hi Chaps,

This is a great idea. I was going to launch a thread about pairing drinks with sticks - coffee / spirits / ales - and this new board is just the place to talk about the topic.

Definitely I'm a coffee-cigar lover... there's something about the depth of an espresso with the flavours of a nice Monty'!

Some of my favorite things to drink while smoking a fine cigar include:



Coffee -nice dark roast or solo doble especially Cuban coffees.
Tea- Jasmine Green tea with honey.
Guinness -cold Guinness. A creamy pint with a creamy cigar. Yum.
Cuban Rum -the only rum I normally drink straight up. Or with an ice cube and a touch of "limon".
Spanish Brandy- the better brands have a nutty sweetness that really goes well with a full-bodied cigar.
Single Malt Scotch- but only the lighter blends. Some of my go-to malts such as Ardbeg just overwhelm a smoke. McCallan 12 is about right.
Cognac -although most good Cognacs above the VS level are, like good single malts, a bit too much, a Hennessy XO, in small sips is like nectar with a Cuban smoke.


Stay away from tequila with your cigars. :tongue:

And since this is a UK Forum, I'll assume there will be few Rootbeer drinkers for me to disagree with.

Mr Cbob,

I'll agree about the coffee - nothing beats a late morning cigar with a strong mug of filter coffee, imo. I often find that the smaller NCs and European cigars are complemented well with a rich blend coffee.

I was fortunate enough to have a few glasses of Hennessy Paradis with a cigar once...

IMO, fuck they go well together...!!!
