I await the day the cabs come back into stock at 1001. Gorgeous smoke.

As I've been enjoying the public house this evening, I grabbed a Cohiba Mini from my desk after falling asleep in front of this (http://www.weebls-stuff.com/toons/Profiteroles/) for 35 minutes. It was that or finish the holiday cigarettes which I'm trying to avoid doing.

Sy, Dave - I've had a few of these but wasn't very impressed but I've noticed a few of you lads saying how great they are. The few I tried were all from the same cab. What year are you lads smoking? Might be worth a re-try?!
PS Don't tell TJ I'm thinking of smoking a petit anything or I'll never hear the end of it :-)

I like the Hoyos and MC in the same vitolas, but these are my favourite daytime smoke for sure, even compared to the Trinis they are V good.

Just finished the Hoyo Ep No2 this evening.First class as always.

I had a similar experience but persevered. Don't know the year as mine were all single purchases. The first I smoked was either overhumidified or plugged and I couldn't get fuck all out of it. The second was too dry or not enough humi time and tasted like salty paper. The third however (which I'd left in the humi for a few months), was how I'd read them described. My notes say 'Tight draw, excellent burn. Mild, smooth, light sweetness. Second third added toast. Last third added caramel into pepper. Get a cab when storage allows?'
Reviews on cigars-review generally seem to indicate they need a bit of age so who knows. In my seven months of cigar smoking there have only been a few OMG WTF IS THIS NEED MORE moments and the third PLPC was one of them. The only experience I've had like it since was with a VR Famoso. That said, I don't know where your tastes lie!

Hi Stevieboy

The Larranagas im smoking are from a cabinet of 50 with a box date of 06, they were in their cabinet for a year and then I transferred them to my humi were they have been resting ever since.

Definitely worth a re-try I would say mate, I'll PM you...

Cheers, HabanoSy

A RASCC and a JL2 in a beer garden, with a few friends not seen for a while. Took some sticks and one of the lads tucked away a RASCC. Got him!

You may have noticed but there's a JL/RASCC pattern developing. Sorry for the repetition, but that's how it is for now folks:biggrin1:

I can certainly understand the RASCCs cj; my JL2s still need more rest I think though as I've not noticed anything (at all!) yet.

Took 2 HdM EE for me and the father-in-law to smoke last night after dinner.

My FIL has been smoking occasionally for many decades but never got the obsession (as far as I am aware).

A little history - My first EE was from JJ Fox's about 5 months ago. Left it in the humi for 2 months or so and lit it up on a summers day at a local festival with the missus. Had some curried goat, jerk chicken and a cold beer in the sunshine and it was a great stick!

Ordered a box of 10 from Puro and they have been in the humi about 3 weeks now.

We both lit up last night (whilst emptying a nice burgandy) and after a few mins i asked my FIL what he thought, he said it was perfectly good but 'no Cohiba'. He also commented that it was a bit big and would probably not finish it all. Now I smoked mine all the way (it was my first of the week!) and I have to concur that it was quite bland.

Do you guys think this is an ageing problem and they will come up given enough time?

NB the last 2 smokes we have had together were Cohiba Robustos and Genios's.

I am a great fan of Hoyo and I purchased the EE as soon as they were released.
I have to agree with you Monkey66 that I did not enjoy them anywhere as much as the Epicure No2, which is a favourite.
Being honest I think the EE that I smoked needed a good 18 months in the humidor to let them settle and then I think they would be an excellent smoke.
I have been thinking about purchasing another box and letting them rest for a year at least. The potential is certainly there though.

Eat more goat curry, rice n pea and jerk chicken with the next one Monkey: nice taste in food there. Goat curry is a favourite of mine. Not the answer you're looking for, but had to get it in.

Give the sticks a bit more rest and make a comparison later. Thing is, resting 'em up will be the hard part:smile:

Yes, just 'tobacco' at the moment. Very bland and boring.
