Hi guys
Got a problem with the internet - my cpu (wireless connection) is absolutely fine and works really well but recently my Dad's connection (wired direct to the router) has slowed down to tortise speed. I've been playing around with a couple of things (disabling IPv6 for example) but nothing seems to be making any difference!
Any ideas?

Hi there - is your dad's router wireless? Do you connect through it with no problems?

Yeah its a wireless router. His connection to it is wired, mine is wireless - I have no issues with my connection at all.

Only time I've seen something similar is when it's connecting at 10mb/s and thats causing some other underlying problem. Have you checked his PC for spyware etc?

Have you recently changed the network cable? Have you altered the config of the network card?

Adaware and Spyware Doctor showed up nothing and the internet on his PC is still running slower than an asthmatic ant! Have installed windows vista SP2 on his machine, removed Norton and installed 'Bullguard' which is what I use instead. Don't know what to do with this one!!

Has windows by any chance upgraded IE to 8.0. I have had to deal with 2 machines recently that slowed to a crawl after they were automatically updated to IE8.

Mine's ok but I don't touch IE8. So I'm probably not much help.

It has got IE8 funnily enough - don't know how to ditch it though!
