Like I said in my review...
IMO, pound for pound this is 'THE' best robusto money can buy...
Everyday should be D4 day...

This is the Cigar I have always got in my Humi :41:
Over the years I've been smoking them, quite a few, there have been many changes in the flavours Earthy, Spicey, sometimes smooth and leathery mushroomy . I Luv Em
But unfortunately sometimes they have been Crap too :frusty:
I have a few bottom layers from 04, and 05 that are stored away for a rainy day :smoke:
Touch wood the 07's and 08's have a lot of promise too

If I buy a box, I start motoring through them far too quickly.
I have my D4 handcuffs on currently.
It will be ecstacy to return.

Whisky has written that he reckons D4s are not as well constructed as in the past, SSteve, in another post.
Do you mean construction, or something else?
See... To me a Juan Lopez No2 smoked without a good resting period is pretty dull sometimes. It can be a wasted, pale grey smoke.
But I acknowledge any cigar smoked too early can present like that.
How much more sex they accrue by just sleeping away for a while...

I've had issues with the construction over the years, too tight, plugged, wrappers, but mostly with the flavour profile, occasionally I've had boxes where the Cigars just had nothing at all no flavour.
I'm talking 1999 to maybe 2002/3 ( not ever box I bought)
It got to the stage where I nearly gave up on them, and then I got a few boxes when on holiday abroad that restored my faith :41:
The 08's are very nice for a young Cigar IMO , it seems different smokers have different preferences with them, some like them Spicy some like them Smooth and Earthy
I like them both ways so long as they are flavoursome
I also have a funny story about buying a Party SD No4 I bought whilst visiting the Partagas Factory In Havana ... The Short of it is .. That it was Plugged with cardboard

Shit!
I'll have my special goggles on when I go there in the Autumn!
I have to say I've had a clear ride with the D4 through several boxes, and it's a cigar which always hits the spot for me.
If I'm a bit blue, I turn to a D4 to raise my spirits, too. It certainly works for me.
I'm pretty well-smoked in Robustos, and this is one I trust completely.
I hope I don't stumble upon a disappointing batch as you and Whisky have.

Ive only had 1 D4 and it was one of the tighest, hard lighting, uncooperative cigars ive had. Of course that was probably just a shitter, not great for a first Partagas. Due to their wide acclaim and reviews all over the internet, im open to try one again of course!

I had my first D4 this week outside on a terrace after a great dinner overlooking the sea in St Mawes Cornwall (a patio heater was required). The D4 was, in my relatively limited experience, my best smoke yet. I'm going to order some from cigarsofhabanos.
If I manage not to smoke then too quickly how long do I have to store them for them to mature and improve noticeably with age?

Congrats on your first D4, I find smoking them first thing in the morning or after a meal in the evening are the best times to enjoy them. Buy yourself a box and be happy that you are doing yourself a favour.

I had my first last week and it was one of the best I've had. And I've had quite a few now! I'll have a box coming back from Cuba in a few months. Yumyum...
