To coincide with the celebrations of the first year of the UK Cigar Forum I am planning to run an accompanied version of the Cuban Cigar Walk London on Saturday 19th September.

Some details are still to be confirmed but first I need to know who is interested.

If you would like to join our merry band, please let me know.

Outline plan is :
Start at 10:00am at the Churchill Statue at the junction of Old Bond Street and New Bond Street. The nearest Tube station is Green Park.

<O:p</O:p<O:p</O:pTiming: The intention is to make this a walk which you can do at your own pace so that you can enjoy the day.

10.00 - Churchill statue at the Junction of Old Bond Street and New Bond Street
10.15 – Dunhill, Bourdon House (on the walk)
10.45 – Cuban Coffee at Sautters of Mount Street
12.00 – Davidoff, Jermyn street.
12.45 – Suggested time to rendezvous at the Red Lion pub (http://www.pubs.com/pub_details.cfm?ID=231) for lunch (it is possible to smoke in the alleyway outside the pub)
2.00 – JJ Fox & Robert Lewis/ Cigar Museum St James’s Street

As we are all heading of to a Grand Herf later I am going to suggest that we actually complete the whole walk, this time, that is, we walk on down to the Churchill Museum Cabinet War Rooms arriving at about 3.00.

It will be possible for anyone who has not completed this section ( or those who can't get out of bed - no names, no pack drill but if you have a horse in your name you know who I mean) to join us at the Red Lion or JJ Fox and complete the last part of the walk.

If you are also interested in doing a tour of the Museum (which is fantastic,) let me know in your reply and I will see what I can set up.

For a fee we can get a personal tour of the museum by one of the directors.

A map is available on the web site at www.citiesinsound.com (http://www.citiesinsound.com/). I suggest you print off a copy of the map and bring it with you on the day. I will bring some copies of the walk with me on the day for those who forget.

If you have any questions please PM me and I will get back to you

Yeah. A real horse one. lol

Is there an 'after' plan yet?
My last train home is at 2200 so I need to think about that.

No worries if there isn't.
I'm off to groom my horse.

Pantomime Horse is looking into a possible Herf venue but there will be afters, no question, just need to fix a venue as we could be quite a few judging by the responses on the official "Anniversary Thread"

I am trying to get some special technology for the day so that everyone can hear the walk at the same time, also, I am looking at getting a group discount so that we can all go around the Churchill Museum Cabinet War Rooms at the end of the walk and before we head off to the Herf at 6.00pm.

I will also check the river boat times for a saturday as it's posible we may be able to get a boat down from Westminster pier to Blackfriars after the Cabinet War rooms as I am sure you will all have walked enough by then!

Any questions please let me know.

Great Simon, I wil put you on thew list and you can confirm nearer the time.

I am delighted to confirm that I have today secured some new 'state of the art' technology for the walk on the 19th September which will ensure that everyone will hear the audio at the same time.

It will also allow me to add some of the delights I have discovered while doing the walk since it was written/recorded.

This is going to mean a slight increase in the cost from the first two walks but I expect the experience to be even better that previously.

The costs will be as follows:

Full walk £25 per person
(If you have previously done the walk and paid for the download this will be reduced to £15 for one walker)

From Davidoff/Red Lion/JJ Fox only £10

One issue is that this will now limit total numbers to 20 people (which is not an issue at present)

This price includes a code to allow you to download the walk to enjoy in the comfort of your own homes on those cold winter evenings.

I am still working on a deal for the Churchill Museum Cabinet War Rooms and will update you on this when I have it.

On a very slow Internet connection here in the North of England. (lol).

Don't know who I'm addressing (Deano? Nic?) or who's counting because it's taking five minutes to scroll back so I'm effectively bewildered here, but I shall come up on the milk train from SE Kent to the evening South Bank UKCF balcony herf (will look back for details).

Will scuttle down three wiener sausages and a panache, and will disappear for the 22:00 milk train home.

Will not risk paying anyone for anything on this machine, I'm afraid.
Will catch up from the South.

How much for the balcony and paper plate only, please?

Bryan

To clarify the enhancements to the walk, here is a quick note:

Previously when I have done group walks everyone has taken their own MP3 player or iPod. While individual players are great for individuals there are disadvantages for groups, the major one being that it is very difficult to ensure everyone is hearing the same thing at the same time. This makes it difficult to control a group.

For the Anniversary day walk I will be using a state of the art Sennheiser system (see http://www.sennheiser.com/sennheiser/products.nsf/resources/B66031F6F2891B78C1257433004311F9/$File/HDE_2020_GB.pdf ) which will ensure everyone is synchronised.

It also has the advantage that I will be able to give you directions and to add some little snippets that are relevant to the group, to include items that were were not available at the time the walk was recorded.

I am confident that for a group this will make the walk even better. These enhancements will add to the experience but also to my costs. In addition, as I am directing the walk it is necessary for me to have insurance to cover myself and this in addition to the technology are the reason for the aditional cost.

Any further questions please PM me.

Just a quick note to say that I have sent out an update this evening to all those who have booked on the walk.

As we are limited to 20 people by the technology I can confirm that we only have 5 places available. (Edit Monday as Mr B and his chum have bailed)

Book now to avoid considerable dissapointment. :smoke: :smoke:

I am delighted to say that it currently looks like we have 20 for the walk on the 19th which is the maximum we can take with the technology.

However if any of you wanted to go and have left it late or have just discovered that you are free, please let me know and I will put you on the reserve list because there are always last minute changes.

There will be a few extra delights this time including something special for Petrol heads and a quick detour to the Linley shop to take a look at one or two of the limited edition H&F Humidors.

I have also negotiated a group rate for the Churchill Museum Cabinet War rooms so if anyone who has done the walk wants to join us there before the herf, you will be most welcome.

I am sending out individual PM's this afternoon with details of the walk costs so your payments will be gratefully received.

I am in the middle of sending out PM's to everyone but my internet connection is playing up (probably all thoses kids catching up on their porn before they head back to schiool) but as soon as it's done I will publish a new list of runners and riders.
