I was just wondering what some people favorite old cigars are. Any cigar counts as long at its 15+ years old. Dunhiils, Davidoffs, other rares, or just old cigars. What do you like
I have been lucky that i have been able to share a few nice cigars with friends. One cigar that realy comes to mind is a Ramon Allones corona from the late 70s. I smoked a 85 monte #5 form a dress box that was pretty flat. i kind of thought it would of been better. No depth, no classsic monte or an monte for that matter.

I am particularly partial to a 35 year old Henry Winterman but there are some rules.
1. It must have been stored in Granny's drinks cupboard for no less than 30 of those years.
2. There must be no form of humidification involved.
3. The packet must be open (all plastic removed) and one cigar smoked.
With all of these conditions satisfied I find this ensures the correct level of dryness.

To be honest, amigo, the only 15 + year old cigars I've had recently are the one's I bought from a bloke who had recently discovered a box or two of stogies stored in his grandma's closet. Now mind you, I'm no expert when it comes to describing the subtle flavors of cigars, but it tasted a wee bit like stale hay with hints of dried beetles and old plastic.
The only other puro I've come across recently that meets your criteria (i.e., the average age of UKCF members) is a lovely El Rey de Mundo that was gifted to :bandit: and :nerd: at Strauters (sp?) during the 2009 inaugural London Cuban Cigar Walk. That one is being saved for the first anniversary of the London BOTL gathering.

You shouldn't be mate. Most BOTL on this forum would rather smoke 'em than age 'em.
But that's just us :grouphug:

I'm going to put my neck out and say I think anything over (and I mean this very roughly) 8 years old is usually disappointing. There is a very fine line between subtlety and dullness. I think there is a lot of rubbish talked about old cigars. They may well have been amazing in their day but in my opinion if a cigar smells/tastes mainly of cedar there is an issue there. I'm sure the rocks are going to come flying at me now but I think the main value in really old cigars is as collectors pieces and not as smokes. I will admit I'm a fan of punchy, tasty cigars and I'm sure my palate isn't as developed as many of the aficionados on here but for me the best time to smoke a cigar is in that 1-3 year period.
Hoping I don't get struck off.

No rock throwin' from state of mind, mexico, senor :thrasher:drewmidumb.
:nerd:I'm sure there are some fine, well maintained puros that age far betters than others. In fact, CA mag. includes a "connoisseur's corner" where they sample and rate vintage habanos, and while the older puros often rate very high:41:, some don't.:frown:
:849:But as me wise ol' pappy used to say, "you can't judge all puros based on a sampling of a few."
Then again, he also used to say, "you can't fuck all the women in the world, but you can try.":p
Hello, My name is  BJ. BJCoro, runt of the famalia Coro, and I believe that young puros are the future of the world.
