Anyone tried these before?
Visited my local tobacconist and picked up a couple of Chinchaleros. They had just arrived in the shop and nobody could tell me much about them.
4" x 52 RG and Nicaraguan,although seemed more like a 54 RG to me.
First NC I have smoked in years and very nice mild smoke to be honest.Nice Colorado wrapper and well constructed.Very mild smoke and consistent in both their draw and taste.
Photographed beside Hoyo Ep No2 for comparison.

The unusual band alone would make me want to smoke one.

Seemed like a good enough smoke for a NC MrB.

Naturally, I really like the NC market; so many unheard of smokes. I like habanos, but theres about 20 or so brands tops, as lovely and brilliant as they are, there's a whole sea of NC's out there that are just waiting to be found, this as an example.

Had a box a few years ago but not as big a ring gauge as those. Found them ok as a everyday cigar when birding.

Well, I'd like to keep, say, 9 and I'd put the rest up. Daverave999 and misterbulgarin would you be interested in 5 each? That would be 13.75 plus say, 2.25 for p&p = £16.00 for 5 for the UK?

These appear to be made by Horizon Cigar (http://www.horizoncigar.com). A few nice pictures on their site.

Got mine today thanks to celsis.
I thought id use the last of my matches, and I dunno if I should of. the matches were lighting a bit funny , and the flame was a strange color and they were going out prematurely, I lit with my usual lighter but the first few draws were very harsh and foul, Ill assume this is the sulphur taste that you can get with matches at times?
After a while it went away. The cigar was actually very good. super consistent draw all the way down, no assistance and lots of smoke, always a plus. Toward the end it was harsh, again could of be attributed to the match taste. Ill leave these to age, I can defo see good potential with these sticks.

You're very welcome! I tried a few of them after I got them and didn't taste any harshness or sulphur. I can only agree that it must've been the matches.
I found them very mild at first and then building up in the second and third to a fine, spicy finish.
Good cigar for around 3 quid!

yea , minus the matchey flavor, it was very well behaved. a perfect accompaniment to a brainstorming session for my website and a sunny day after some yard work

Had another one of these last week with a mate, same sort of thing again, it's definately this cigar. Almost a 'foul' type of taste on the pallete, you sort of feel your mouth filling with the smoke big style, not as dense as water obviously but it's very unusual to feel the smoke like this. It smoked ok, I find that the flavor is a bit too harsh, and not harsh in the full bodied way, harsh in the machine-made-hamlet way.
Mate even said (whos an up and coming BOTL), that if he had that cigar as his first cigar, he wouldn't be interested in the hobby. food for thought :proud:

That's really strange! I didn't get that sort of taste at all. They tasted very good to me. In fact, I've even bought another box......

I've tried a few Chinchaleros in the past few weeks and the impression I get is that they are extremely variable.
I went through all the range CGars has (bought as singles, 1-2 smokes per vitola) and some where very nice, some OK and a couple disappointed. I'm putting together a little review that I hope to post soon if you are interested in more details.
With the Picadillos I have had a similar experience to Mr.B. Although the burnt (match ?) flavour wasn't overwhelming in mine, it was there. having said that I wouldn't be surprised to get a few good smokes if I went through 4-5 of these.

if you age them for a few months in a humidor it might help to get rid of that taste
