I'm in, option 2 sounds fine, if that's the best.

But happy to go with the majority.

Cheers, ACMCC...

I may not be able to make it. But I'm happy to donate £7 if needs be

Pantomimehorse
07-08-2009, 11:47 AM
number 2 for me, looks like a great venue

Deano
07-08-2009, 11:49 AM
I just need absolute confirmations. We need 30 people not 20 + 10 maybes. Ta!

misterbulgarin
07-08-2009, 11:57 AM
I'd be up for it, unless something major comes up

nicwing
07-08-2009, 01:10 PM
I'm in Deano.

Just a quick point here guys, to make this work, you need to commit your £7.

That way we can confirm the Doggets Terrace Bar, it's a really great location with great views of London and will make a truly memorable evening.
.

misterbulgarin
07-08-2009, 01:20 PM
So we'd have it all for ourselves? I'd be happy to chuck in a lil extra, say a 10'er even. Of course the more of us, the less everyone pays.

How much would it cost anyway? to rent it out

Deano
07-08-2009, 01:27 PM
Nah we need 30 people, it's not the money that matters. It's £200 and a min of 30 people. Anymore over 30 and the cost each goes down. Though if we spend over £2000 we get our money back (can't see this happening though I might be wrong).

So thanks for the offer of more, but it's the head count that matters not the mollah - otherwise we'd easily stump it up between us.

misterbulgarin
07-08-2009, 03:30 PM
How bout if we bring guests? I have a cigar mate whod most likely attend.

nicwing
07-08-2009, 03:34 PM
Hi Mister B, Deano is not around at present but I know his issue is the minimum 30 people. The place can take 100 so no problem with bringing chums along!!

post 992, I'm getting nervous!!!!!!!!!!! Don't want to do a Mexican and crash and burn for 2 months!

Deano
07-08-2009, 03:39 PM
Yep chums, guests etc, just tell me if you can confirm them so I can get to the magic number!

misterbulgarin
07-08-2009, 03:40 PM
nice, least thatll bump up the head count by 1

Ok so we're still looking at the 19th September.

We can do two of the following things at the venue Nic has kindly found.

1) Reserve tables at the http://www.doggettscoatandbadge.co.uk/ and try to grab outside seats when possible...

2) Get, at minimum, 30 of us together to club £7 each to hire out the Terrace Bar. This would the most ideal thing to do one feels!

What I need now is confirmation of who would like to do number 2, as soon as possible. I suspect we won't get enough people and will have to then look at an alternative, but it's worth putting it out there as it's a great venue.

And this time we will do the full walk all the way to the Churchill Museum Cabinet War rooms where I am looking to do some kind of deal for all of us so I hope that even those who did the walk before will join us at either the Red Lion in Crown Passage (for lunch) or at JJ Fox and Robert Lewis for the last 30 minutes walk down to Horseguards Parade.

- Mrs Cohiba IV
- Cigar Smoke
- Son of Cigar Smoke

Joining for the 2nd Half at either the Red Lion or JJ Fox & Robert Lewis:
- Lascaux

Please post to this thread http://www.ukcigarforums.com/newreply.php?do=newreply&noquote=1&p=29388 (http://www.ukcigarforums.com/newreply.php?do=newreply&noquote=1&p=29388) if you are interesting in joining us on the walk.

I am trying to get some special technology for the day so that everyone can hear the walk at the same time, also, I am looking at getting a group discount so that we can all go around the Churchill Museum Cabinet War Rooms at the end of the walk and before we head off to the Herf at 6.00pm.

I will also check the river boat times for a saturday as it's posible we may be able to get a boat down from Westminster pier to Blackfriars after the Cabinet War rooms as I am sure you will all have walked enough by then!

Any questions please let me know.

Guys, at this rate I'll have to cancel the venue.

I've got until a week monday to come up with the 30 guests, and at the moment only a third of you have committed with payment, which suggest we may actually have a lot less people coming than previously thought.

Unless I get a larger share of commitment I will have to forego the venue, refund who's paid, and look elsewhere for a possible location.

Mr B. When I made it along to the inaugural walk some months ago, I'd never met any of the chaps on it. It was a weird concept, travelling alone to London to meet cyber stogie smokers that I had never met. I thought what a frigging freak!

It was great day out.

See you there hopefully mate:biggrin1:

Don't drop out Mr.B, they won't bite, well TJ might :biggrin1:, but I don't think he's going this time...!!!

my associate has dropped out, ill mull over til saturday whether or not i want to come alone / with another mate.Your 'associate' - did the plod catch up with him... Do you think he'll talk?

Most of us will be making the lonesome trip (even if some have met before). I'm sure we'll all look out for any potential Scotland Yardies, so no worries about being in London on that front. ;)

heh I got no problem going alone, infact I'd prefer that as Im a free spirit, but I like to have a go-to guy to worry about the times / trains / boring stuff . Iv not been too well the past couple of days so my overall spirits are knocked. Im gonna have my first cigar of the week :D today so im sure my herfing need will skyrocket back up

Deano

Don't you worry about being alone. I will be coming alone and so will 90% of everyone else. Thus everyone's in the same boat, and a great herfing we will have!

Just a quick note for those of you gathering at JJ Fox during the day, I popped in yesterday and I gather that both Bill and Magali dela Cruz will be in the store on Saturday. If you do not know Magali her brief resume is that she previously worked at both Dunhill and La Casa in Teddington, she is Cuban and extremely well connected in the Cigar World.

She has promised to have a rummage through the vaults to see if she can locate something special.

As I have mentioned before, the walking group will be in the Red Lion around 12.30 ish if anyone wants to join us for a beer and a sandwich.
