My laptop seems to have been invaded by some stupid advert bug which opens all sorts of crap from surveys to free troilism snaps when I'm about my online business.

I have AVG and Ad-Aware running, as well as proper firewall stuff.

What can I do?

I've done two full scans that each lasted all night.

Really cheesed off as my boys have brought this crap in when my missus and I were away for a while. The filthy wrists of porn will have been visited. They always do.

Sorry to hear that Robusto, I'm not at expert compared to some of the other guys, but first thing I would do is copy over my files to a separate drive, scan that, then your favourites etc, no programs, then go to system restore and go back to a date pre holiday or when it first went dodgy, if that cures it fine.

Could be that the registry is also corrupted, if so, you will have to reformat the drive and reload all the software programmes etc, had a friend who had a similar problem, and no amount of scans etc could cure it, the backing up can be done anyway and kept updated while its a bit dodgy till you know its fixed... good luck.

You could try ccleaner (google it) download it and run cleaner. It also has a registry fixer thing in the toolbox on the left hand side of the main screen. :cowboyic9:

i agree with spy doctor only problem is its not free, you can do a free scan though and see if it does pick the little bugger of a virus up..

I feel like smashing its oblong face in.

Thank you for these other avenues, men. I will try them tomorrow.

(Just back from friends who are Mac perverts. Same old story).

Spybot, then Adaware by Lavasoft, then OneCare by Microsoft. All together they should do it.

Also consider changing any significant passwords once you are clean. If there was a trojan in any of the bullshit it may have been harvesting your data.

It's showing me swingers I might like to pair up with in Colchester every time I change site. No bloody chance. They look like the allegedly toothless night women under Deal Pier.

Find SEXY and HORNY people!
