I've just read this article (http://www.cigaradvisor.com/news.cfm?id=1253) which talks about suitable drinks for cleansing your palate before smoking cigars. It seems the general idea is something weakly-flavoured containing water, alcohol or acid, preferably a combination of the three.
Do you have a pre-cigar drink to do this? If so, what is it? How effective is it? Did you hit upon it by accident or have deliberately chosen it to clean your mouth?

Palate cleansing after a fine meal and before a great cigar seems to me to be missing the point a bit. It's the combination of flavours that makes the event special.
If I'm not having a cigar and the meal is towards the more average end of the scale I find an ice cold Limoncello does the job - but then I'm not a girl who allows herself to succumb to fashion.

The article makes a clear distinction between palate cleansing & accompanying drinks.
For cleansing (on the rare occasions I do it) I stick to tea :pop2:

Agree with Bnelly on this one.Real tea with nothing added cleans things up nicely.:41:

i can see a mass order of bitter lemon at the mega herf this saturday :biggrin1:
Hmmm, nice article, thanks for pointing it out.
If I really want to concentrate on the cigar I find that a glass of coolish water really refreshes the palette mid-smoke but I'll give that cocktail he mentions a blast at some point.
