picked this up cheap in my local tescos! only ever tried it once before (bushmills 10yr old is my choice of whiskey)! it's gotta pair well with cigars, it's been matured in bourbon, sherry and port casks! will save it though so i can have it with something decent, like a nice robusto (maybe PSD4 or HDM epicure 2)!

all the best,

I find it, like all Irish whiskeys, just a bit too smooth for me. Something to do with the triple distillation, I think. I prefer me whisky with a bite! Like Ardbeg!

i hear that celsis, one of my fave malts to date is the ardbeg supernova, peatiest whisky in the world!

but to pair with my cigars, i'm looking for something that won't overpower. bushmills i can remember being pretty decent,

let us know how it works with the cigars senororobustoro!

Try a tasty little Armagnac from Tesco. Lovely stuff and chateau bottled!

I'm glad it was cheap. 16 years old? You could get a new one for the price some of these folk charge.

Not that keen on the Bushmills. I went on the Distillery tour a couple of months ago and tried several there. Compared to my Scotch's that I have didn't like any, and certainly didn't persuade me to buy any more.
I have a bottle of the Bushmills and it's taking a while to drink, a bit too hot I think, prefer Jamiesons.

hello drewmidorn,
yeah, i know what you mean! i actually got it for 31.50 or something because of discount and wotnot! i've seen it on other shelves for, like 46, even in the distillery!

as for scotch whisky, i was put off it by jura (superstition)! it was too peaty, too smokey if you get what i mean! now i associate that taste with all scotch! i started off drinking scotch when i was younger, like bells, teachers, grouse etc! eventually, i found irish whiskey was more to my taste, especially bushmills, jamesons, tullamore dew! scotch whiskey was too much like hard work, irish went down smooth!

all the best,

alex, belfast

I prefer the Irish whiskies , just enjoy the flavour and the smoothness to acompany cigars also like the Scotch speysides, however next on my list is a sherry cask Macallan.

I've heard good things about bushmills, though i haven't tied it yet. I think i will soon though, but first i have to get some more macallan.
