I bought a box a few months back dated, Oct 08. This was my first go at a Cuban Cohiba...at least a real one anyway. A year ago, I fell for the popular scam of buying the glasstop 3 pack robustos in Mexico. Afterwards, I was so pissed off about being scammed; it motivated me into researching where to buy real CC and what to look for, etc. That is how I found this great place!!!!! Luckily, I only paid $15 for them, but I was still pissed off, nonetheless.

Anyway, back to my review. I withstood the temptation and let them sit in the humi for the last 3 months. However, I could not wait any longer. I wanted to know what a Cuban Cohiba was like. Would it live up to the name, hype, and cost? How would it compare to a NC Cohiba? I know they are still rather young, but since I do like some cigars young (any Partagas); I thought I would give it a go and see how these are.

Well, it lit up beautifully. The burn was spot on for the first half of the cigar, and it was a windy day here. During the first third of the smoke, I was greeted with a sweet grassy flavor, with a hint of wood and cedar. Very pleasant. As the cigar progressed to the halfway point, the spice kicked up a touch, and the sweet grassy flavor dissipated. The final third was all earth, coffee, with an increased spice. At this point, I would say the cigar went from medium bodied to medium-full. The cigar was never harsh and had a pleasant finish. It was an hour and 15 minutes well spent.

Overall, yeah Cohiba does live up to the hype. I can only imagine how good these will be in another year or two. In my opinion, these are probably the best value in the siglo line, price wise. Money well spent.

Nice review, Jdawg. Seems like they're pretty 'dark' cigars, on the heavier side?

hey jdawg,
i totally agree! some would say the siglo III or siglo VI are the best, i disagree! i've found the siglo II to be 'spot on' for me! yes, i've tried the siglo's I, II, III & VI and i found the size and the strength and the flavours of the siglo II perfectly suit me, and so does the price!

all the best,

Yep, Siglo 2 was my first cohiba, always a good lil smoke, if you buy em singlely, they come in a nice tubo that you can't chuck away!

Im a bit busy exploring other habanos and NC's, but when I feel like investing in cohiba, the Siglo 2 will be arriving at my door!

Gotta love the Cohibas!

I have stocks of most of them.....

For me, best of the Siglo line are the even numbers - VI, then !V, then II.

Still, I love the odds as well!

....and the classics

Nice summary jdawg. Agree - the Cohibas get a lot of hype. Some over-egg the hype, some like to suggest that it is just populist bull... I think that there is hype, but I've yet to have a Cohiba that I haven't finished with the thought, "What an excellent hour I just spent with a great stick..."

Nice review and i agree they are a good little daytime smoke, although I still prefer the IV, for the additional depth of flavour and spiciness which they exhibit.
