Wine bargains

I popped in to a local Tesco the other day and managed to bag a few wines reduced to clear; Trimbach Riesling Cuvee Frederic Emile 2001, from £26.99 to £13.49; Demessey Meursault Les Criots 2001 from £22.99 to 11.49; and three half bottles of Chateau Guiraud 1er Cru Sauternes 2002 from £9.99 to £4.99, plus another bottle of red on half price sale at £5.49. As the half bottles still count as bottles, I got another 5% off them all as well, so happy days.

I thought I'd check to see if there was anything left in the store today when I was in, just managed to bag a half bottle of the Sauternes. Still, a bargain is a bargain. So that's something to add to the cellar for Christmas :beer:

Recent bargains have included Remy Martin VSOP at £14 a bottle, (Asda), Heidsieck Gold Top vintage champagne at £19 a bottle, (Majestic) and Gordons Sloe Gin at £12 a bottle, (Sainsbury's) :biggrin1:

Now, I always thought you limeys talked some strange variant of Inglelish like us byghodz USA-ens talk. Now I'm beginning to think mebbe I'm wrong on accounta these "wines" ol' Roamin' is talking about sure sound strange to me. When I put these names into Google translate, it came up with this:

Trimbach Riesling Cuvee Frederic Emile: Cut back Fred & Emily's grape vats.

Demessey Meursault Les Criots: Unkempt fake salty carrots.

Chateau Guiraud 1er Cru Sauternes: Gerald's hat was the first one born on Saturn.
