I got two tickets to see Stevie Wonder at the O2 in London this Tuesday evening and have offered the second ticket to a mate who lives up there and will meet me there.
Last night our singer asked me if he and his girlfriend could share a lift up and down to the gig as his car is playing up. No problem at all.
Then, this morning, I realised in my mind I had reserved two pungent smokes for the 90 minute drive up and the 90 minute return journey. I can't inflict my perfume on him - He is Mr Health in the group and a very tolerant bloke, but it would be like a punishment for him if I lit up.
She, however, is a cigarette hoover.
My car might have dead cigar whiff humming in the background on 3/10 pretty constantly - but I'm not having any bloody cigarettes smoked in my vehicle ever! Ghastly things! :cowboyic9:

Stay strong. Your car will never smell the same after cigarettes have tainted it!:849:

I bought two of those tree air fresheners.
Spice and New Car Smell.
It feels like a Woofdahmobile.
When I've seen Stevie and delivered my mates home after the gig, I'm sho lighting up nuff to cruise home.
The trees will be in a ditch.

An awesome gig! More soon.
I had three dancing bobbing babes between me and Stevie and I have no complaints! :biggrin1:
Dropped my mates off, lit a Villiger (no time, no time, work tomorrow) and banished the artificial scent and introduced the absolutely natural smell of cigars on the last leg of the drive home.
Listened to Radiohead's The Bends as an 'antidote' to Stevie.
In stogie and muso bliss. :cowboyic9:

Sounds like it was a great night Bry, nice one :)
Even though I don't drive, I don't think that I would be able to tollerate those little air freshing trees either, they just completely would just kill off any after aroma from :smoke: a favourite stick and that would be a royal pain to say the least :)

Hey smokin, now were talkin .Just seen the clips on your you tube post,my all time favourite from hendrix has gotta be,,,hey joe. When i used to do the rock nites in this club were i used to dj,there used to be this chick who would turn up every week and ask for that one song,i used to watch her dance to this song. She really lost herself into the music like she was on some drug, but if you listen to hendrix ,his music will take you on a journey, and you will find yourself drift away too.brilliant man.nice post mate.:biggrin1:

Unfortunately I can't upload the vid clips I took on my mobile.
Needless to say this was a great gig. I lost count of the number of musos on the stage but there were four keys players at one point. I'm being brief - The musicianship was outstanding. Stevie's harmonica playing - and his fresh voice - were awesome. He plays keys like a bastard. He was in a jaunty mood, tho we were kept waiting til 8.45pm before he started.
There were a couple of longeurs in the arrangements, and some sentimentality in the delivery. These are forgiven because of the quality of the great songs, and the energy and accuracy in the delivery. A tight, tight band.
I saw Elton John very close to the front of the stage last year and the sound quality was awful. A mush.
With Stevie, I was up in the cheap ?75 seats with a distant view BUT amazing sound clarity.
I can't remember if it was on here or on a music forum that someone asked about the sound at the 02... I say GO FOR GOOD SOUND AT A GIG RATHER THAN GOOD VIEW. In any case, I shut my eyes a lot at a megadrome, or even at The Flying Horse, when listening to a band.
Hendrix was visual setting fire to his guitar... AND he was a genius musician.
I hate seeing bands jumping around and being 'visual' when their playing is crap.
Living For The City was wonderful. So was Innervisions.
Some of the big hits were truncated into a medley. Not such a fan of that.
Good stuff on at the 02 over the next year. I'll definitely be going back.
Maybe we Southern England boys could meet up at a central gig some time, blow away some monsters and enjoy some more sensurround bobbing. :cowboyic9:
