Suggested, I think, by Monte.

This is Max.

<a href="http://photobucket.com" target="_blank"><img src="http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h304/elton1984/ABCD0011-1.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

Max is about twelve. We picked him up from Kent Labrador Rescue three years ago. He was a porker, so we had to slim him down. He is a beautiful lad with a wonderful soft temperament. He is supremely well endowed which means people in the street sometimes stop, gawp and laugh. That appeals to me. He's getting a bit doddery now so we look out for him. He can only amble around the block slowly now. He doesn't moan about cigar smoke. If anything he finds it intruiging.

Indeed Bry i agree 100% mate abusing defenceless animals is a Huge NO NO!

I Remember a few years back i was out in the park playing 5 aside with mates, & i heard some shounting swearing going on, so i looked, like anyone else would & saw in the distance some meat head whacking his dog with a branch & repeatidly kicking the dog too.

I saw red & ran over there quick sharp & confronted this brainless fool, i said a few words to him he said somthing back, put it this way the meat head was more worse off than the dog.

The dog was shaking & battered & cut, so i had no option but to take the dog he was a staff I went to RSPCA they checked him over he was in a bad way & was beaten regulary the vet stated, he didnt have a micro chip or collar with tag & wasnt registered.
They kept him in & i did ask that they let me know how he was.
Anyway he recovered physically, probably mentally scared after what happened to him.
But he was re-homed with a nice family.
I felt good about that.
I hope that horrible excuse for a human being was left to think not to ever do that to a defenceless animal ever again.
Im quite sure he learnt his lesson.

Monte.

Deano

This is the first dog I've ever had of my own, and of the family.

My mother was a nutter. She used to pour fish down the drain, release canaries in the back garden, and gave the one dog I had away to neighbours.

Sometimes I know exactly why I'm a smoker.

Max - I have to say - is like one of the family children.

Yeh, in the future I am sure we will...probley to replace the kids once they have flown the nest.....

I got the missus to take a few pics of me and my Springer Edie tonight, but she is too busy to load them on the PC at the moment...and I'm technically inept I'm afraid.

Dog of course wouldn't keep still - she just insists on prostrating herself as soon as you speak to her - typical spaniel...so in the photos I'm holding her head up...looks like I'm throttling her!! I'm saying this, just so Monte doesn't beat me up...or worse, refuses to sell me any more cigars!!

Will post as soon as I can get the pictures loaded... :)

This is my greyhound:

Tuxedo Dick Lightning Paws (we just call him Tux)

He was a AA champion racer in West Virginia and we rescued him from being put down after his owners retired him from racing.

Nice Dog Joe, like greyhounds myself but I could never understand how the people who race them just discard the dogs when they retire??? Bloody shame.

Lucky to have you mate...

We don't normally dress them like this by the way, these are old bus driver uniforms...

Great pix wild:849: lovely dog & sweet children, bet you had a good day out.
How old is Edie?

Wildwood
02-10-2008, 07:52 PM
Thanks Monte...

Edie is 3 years old...and her full name is Blizzard of the Brock...which is probably pretty appropriate!

We had a great day at the Museum...apart from Charlie (the youngest) stotting his head three times in quick succession on 1. the floor 2. a glass wall and 3. the driving handle of a tram. Luckily it's the least sensitive part of his anatomy...:smoke:

We stayed a week in London during that heatwave in June...self-catering in Catford! Oh the glamour...

They told us it was Greenwich!!

Excellent stuff yea catford wouldnt been my choice but at least you were out site seeing during the day:cool:

I bet Edie is full of life darting about like a nut, they are like that at that age they start to calm down about 5-6years.

Have you tried the new flashchat chat room?? its located at top of page on the navigation panel, Have a go.

Monte.

Robusto

Great pictures, Wild.
Edie looks positively regal, and that's a great picture of you and the kids.

For a bunch of outsiders, we're quite a switched-on looking clan.

Wild and Larry - I'm coming down with your cold. Cold turkey and Kleenex for a few days, I reckon.

Still - On with the show whatever. Just off the brown tabs, alas.

Yes, Catford....

My wife decided early one evening to go off to the local Tesco. On her exit, she found herself accompanied by a large gentleman of Afro-Carib descent, who offered to introduce her to untold pleasures..."up da batty" I believe was the phrase used. Although obviously a tempting proposition, she assures me that she politely declined his generous offer although of course very flattered etc etc. He then followed her half the way back to the flat, muttering darkly to himself.

London eh? Throbbing heart of a great Empire...

Nah, he'd ambled off well before...no doubt to offer his services elsewhere. I was angry at first, but my wife saw the funny side of it, and so did I (eventually). Think he was high on something...

Thanks for the nice comments about dog and kids...I rather like them myself, though I tend to keep that to myself...

Afternoon guys,

May go slightly against the love dog notion myself for legitimate reasons. Would be a tad wary of dogs after I had a run in with a large Alsatian whilst out jogging one day. The sight of my achilles tendon was probably the temptation.

In saying that I would be a fan of Crufts, favourite breed would probably be a Japanese Akita dog.

Watch Best In Show, Malc.
It's a brilliant US film about dog show noncery from the Spinal Tap chap.
(Preparing for my Nicotine Abuse sideshow. Nerves in tatters. Forgotten actor/director's name).
Rob Reiner?
Jeez I'm dyslexic for a teacher.

Don't believe a word.

Rob Reiner did Spinal Tap (Christopher Guest played the guitarist, Nigel, in Spinal Tap, but he's the one who directed Best in Show. Guest also directed some other really good mockumentaries: Waiting for Guffman being one of my favorites.) :cowboyic9:
