The House of Cigarsmoke is proud to announce a date for a Birmingham Herf ( Comflag, a mix of combustion and conflagulation, but for familiarity I will use Herf )

The date is Saturday 12th December, yes I know it,s only 2 weeks before Xmas but no other dates are availible at the proposed venue.

The venue in mind is the Birmingham Hotel du Vin. They have a pub downstairs with a area called the Snug which we can hire for Free which is close to a small outside smoking area,no cover or heat I think but will check.

The basic plane is to meet up at Birmingham New St train station at approx 3pm then go to Hollingsworths cigar shop with walk in humidor. From here to a pub for a smoke and poss food.

We can have the Snug at Hotel du Vin from 7.30pm for the rest of the evening. The pub at the hotel also has a walk in humidor. Photos of the Snug and a cigar list from the humidor will be posted shortly. I leave all the tech stuff to Son of as I am a bit of a technophob.

If you are interested let me know as I need to confirm the booking of the Snug asap. It will accomadate a max of 20 people.

Cheers :smoke:

Gutted. Clashes for me too.

My folks live near Evesham, so can generally find an excuse to get up to Brum. Will be up sometime over Xmas/New Year so will see if anyone fancies a get together when I know dates :pop2:

Count me in for any future 'Midlands' herf-ing type activities, would love to say 'hello' and light up a stick or two with fellow UKCF members and like-minded BOTL (looks like there's quite a few of us now).

Used to love visiting the Birmingham HdV prior to the smoking ban, as they had a great bar and snug (why can't places like this have the right to 'opt out'?). Same for the one in Harrogate.
Luckily, a few now have smoking 'bothy's' in the grounds (leather chairs, fires, etc), but don't know of too many round these parts, at least not with a walk in humidor and good cigar selection.
Would be very interested to hear of any that you guys know about though.

I'll be keeping my eye out for future W. Midlands herfs myself. I'm actually at a party in King's Heath that night.

I'm back from my enforced non-smoking due to the arrival of a very beautiful daughter. She is now 6 months old and I had my first cigar the other day.

If people don't mind splashing out a bit, there is a great smoking venue, Simpsons Restaurants. It's a bit pricey but they do a set menu for £30 including half a bottle of wine every lunchtime. Worth it for the quality of wine and food. Allowing for 'extras' you can get away with £50 a head including coffee and a digestif for a Michelin starred lunch and a lovely garden in which to enjoy cigars.

It's in Edgbaston, not too far from the Botanical Gardens.

How much interest would there be for a meet at Simpsons on either a Saturday or Sunday lunchtime? The cost would be £30 for a three course meal including half a bottle of wine. Coffee and spirits/non-house wine would be additional costs and there is an additional 12.5% service charge too. If evening was the preferred option it would push the cost up a bit as they only do the pre-fixe+wine menu at lunchtimes.

Me and dad (Cigarsmoke) would be interested in a birmingham meet, nice and local for us for a change lol, when are you thinking of having it? Im away for a month but Cigarsmoke should be around anyways.
