Johhny Burman at Sautter has kindly extended an invitation to the Forum members to join him at the stores pre-christmas 'herf/party' which will take place on the evening of the 26th November at the store.

The event will run from 6.00pm to 8.00pm so put it in your diaries and I hope to see you there.

You will be able to buy the lady wife that new Humidor she has always wanted. :smoke:

Pip pip.

I might go, but considering the size of the shop, it seems a bit mad!

Maybe there's a back passage you could all squeeze into?

I'm new to this, can someone tell me what it's all about? And I'll have to ask the newbie question: What does Herf mean? And BOTL for that matter?!

31-10-2009, 03:20 PM
Hey Chris,

A herf, or 'to herf' is when BOTLs meet up and smoke cigars in a social setting/gathering together.

BOTL= Brother of the Leaf (Cigar tobacco leaf)

Thanks very much for the heads up...I should like to try this Herfing  None of my friends smoke, so cigar smoking is very much a solitary act for me!

Hey guys, I don't think we need to worry too much about the space at Sautter. It looks as though there may well be another cigar related event close by on the same night.

Also, there is an extremely interesting pub close by which we can go to before/after.

My suggestion is you put the date in your diaries and plan to be in London.

Should be a good night.

No chance for me this Thursday :(

nicwing
23-11-2009, 08:49 AM
So I suggest the order for the day should be:

2.00pm - 3.00pm JJ Fox

3.00pm ish, schlep up to Casa in Wardour street

If you are still up for it we could head over to G. Smith & Son @ 74 Charing Cross Road about 4.30pm ish (lovely old cigar and snuff store with a good range of n/c and Cubans).

Head over to Mayfair for 5.30pm and a pint in The Punch Bowl in Farm street (Guy Richie's pub) which is just behind Sautter.

6.30pm at Sautter

See how it goes from there.

Lots of great Christmas shopping tips on the way.

Anyone on for it, join the party where you can.

Before that is a bit secret actually Biggy. Promise not to tell:

7.30 - Cold curry breakfast at a location in Camden town (call me for details)
8.27 - Pint in a pub near the meat market (sorry that one is invitation only)
9.15 - Turkish bath and a rub down with Cigar Aficionado - Iron Mongers Row
12.34 - Light luncheon of toast and gentleman's relish at the cabbies shack near Lords

Then on to the main event.

That look Ok for you?

It is NOVEMBER!!!! No bloody Xmas decorations up yet, no cards, certainly no bloody screaming ugly new-born in a stable with homeless parents and an annoying star cluttering up the place.

At this rate come January we will have chocolate eggs and fluffy bunny cards all over the sodding place. On the brighter side it means we can nail hippies to trees again on the outskirts of town. No bloody singing "Always look on...." etc. Cheerful bloody hippies, make me sick.

Oh it was a good one. Mad Italian women forcing home made food into our hands. Cohiba esplendidos being sold ten pounds under sticker price. Free flowing fizz. Mince pies and oh so much more. It was bloody busy. Las and Nic good company as always.

Grumpy, oh so so grumpy Deano, (in tweed and no glasses) and I had much bubbly. The "chavs" coming into the shop asking if the cigars are free also gave us added ammunition. The homeless person looking at us burning a weeks equivalent of his giro cheques also added a certain zest to the occasion. Huge fun. First time anybody has even come close to challenging me in years. To be continued Monday dear boy!

P.S. If he deleted this post he is a coward! :p
