I am not great with films or books because of being constantly busy. I can't watch films at home or at the cinema without starting to nod off. It's age and because I feel knackered most of the time.
Here are a few I like:
The Shining
2001 - Indeed just about all of Kubrick's (sp?) films
Taxi Driver
28 Days Later
28 Weeks Later
Terminator 2
Close Encounters
Independence Day
The Alien films (One is really crap, tho - I think it's Alien)
Saving Private Ryan
Castaway
Schindler's List
Polyester - Indeed, anything weird directed by John Waters, and anything with Divine in it
That really stupid show made into a film, originally on MTV, where those American guys do stupid, stupid stunts - I feel I shouldn't like it, but I love it
Born To Boogie (Slightly surreal T.Rex flic - I adore Bolan/T.Rex)
The Sound Of Music
Borat
La Cage Aux Folles (French one - not The Birdcage)
Jean de Florette / Manon des Sources
Others will come to mind.
I'd love some pointers to other good films.
I'm mostly into Sci-Fi, GOOD Horror - and I always like recommendations for comedy.
Looking back at my list, I think I have dreadful taste, by the way!

Screwball films from the 1930s, like: Bringing up Baby, Philadelphia Story, the Awful Truth, Nothing Sacred, My Man Godfrey, It Happened One Night, etc etc....plus, I have a sort of gay thing about 30's musicals too: Golddiggers, 42nd Street etc. (I'm in touch with my feminine side!).
If you've not heard of these, then shame on you! :smoke:
And lots of French films...too many to mention...

I agree, but the book is so much better and is a complete factual account of Operation Market Garden, to the letter !
Its was an amazing huge logistical operation.

For those who haven't seen it, I HIGHLY recommend The Hangover. Watched it with the wife on a rainy Saturday afternoon and it is without doubt the funniest film I have seen this year - possibly ever!
It's been showing for a few weeks now so if you fancy it, don't wait too long.
Bruno on Wednesday I think.
