Hi,
My name is Balibob and I am the owner of Tambolaka Natural Tobaccos, the makers of Tambo Premium Cigars, Java Country Cigars and Tambota Cigars. I want to thank you for taking the time to enjoy and review our Tambo Short Corona. I apologize for not getting to this forum sooner but our cigars are currently under review on several forums globally and I am running from site to site to try to answer questions and assist where I can. Ferry let me know that his company had sent some of our smokes your way and we are very happy to hear from those who take the time to analyze our smokes. We make 5 sizes of Tambo, the half corona, short corona, perfecto, super robusto and our big boy the grand robusto. I am new to the site so don't want to violate any rules but if anyone wants more info I am happy to help.
Each of our cigars contains 5 year old village aged tobacco fillers from one of Indonesia's most remote islands, sumba. They are aged from 6months to one year after rolling before they are released for sale. We believe a good cigar must be aged to begin its journey toward becoming exceptional and we agree that a little additional aging on a cigar is almost always a good thing.
Again thank you for your insights and we are most pleased that you enjoyed our little cigar...Balibob

Finally smoked the cigar that was kindly sent by Ferry via Nic.
Here is the review as promised, better late than never.
Cigar - Tambo petit corona
Taste
Fairly mild from the start to around half way, when it got slightly stronger not by much though.
I found the cigar lacking flavour especially at the start, but I persevered. About an inch into the cigar I picked up some sensations of leather and burnt wood. The rest of the cigar was fairly similar.
13/25
Construction
the cigar was well rolled. It was well packed, firm and had a perfect draw.
I liked the pigtail a nice touch imo.
Appearance wise, The cigar had a matt, dry looking wrapper, I like a nice shiney, oily wrapper. Plus I felt that the 2nd band looked out of place and looked fairly cheap, made from thin paper and was unnecessary. compared to the main band. I felt this took away from the look of the cigar.
23/25
Burn
Perfect, did not require any touch ups. Lots of smoke and nice solid greyish ash that defied gravity. (see pics)
25/25
Overall Impression
I’m not the biggest fan of small cigars or mild cigars, I prefer a medium to strong smoke. It was always going to be an uphill battle for this little bugger to impress and sadly, it failed.
Excellent burn and construction however with little evolution of flavours and complexity I don’t think I would return to this cigar again. Probably more suited to those who like milder cigars and subtle flavours.
61/75
Thanks to Ferry for the opportunity to try this cigar.
Hi from Bali,
Unfortunately Ferry only sends out the smallest of our 5 sizes of Tambo cigars for these tests. I am currently running reviews on puff.com and another group is preparing a tasting on botl.org of our full size super robusto(6"x52 ring) and our grand robusto(6"x 62 ring).
Our half corona is our smallest and mildest blend. Still rolled for ultimate draw and excellent burn but it is hard to put a full bodied taste in a quarter inch wide stick. It is popular in the Asian market where tastes move toward the mild but in Europe and America where tobacco tastes are a bit more refined our Super Robusto is by far our most popular cigar. Will have to see about getting some of our big boys over your way so you can taste a real full bodied Indonesian Tambo next time. Happy to provide the sticks if someone wants to handle the local shipping and line up the tasters. Just let me know...
Thank you for taking the time to taste our little guy and share your observations. Smoke on, Balibob

After giving the cigar a few weeks to settle from its long journey, I decided to give the cigar a try, and here is my humble opinion:
Appearance 11/15
The Srintil is well constructed and has a dark brown wrapper with a dry and coarse feel. The wrapper has some freckles (sunspots) and the cigar is well packed with good consistency and no hard or soft spots. The label is loose on the cigar. Mild earthy aromas are present and the cigar has no hard or soft spots. The prelight draw is tight.
Smoking Characteristics 22/25
The good construction shows in the burn and draw of the cigar. The draw is good all the way through and the burn is even. The combustion is good with plenty of smoke with modest texture. The ash is firm and dark grey in colour. These characteristics stay consistent until the end.
Flavour & Body 17/25
The cigar is very mild from the very start, with sweet, earthy flavours and tones of white pepper. Not very complex or deep, the flavours remain the same until the very end without changing.
Overall 28/35
The Srintil is a well constructed cigar with a mild taste. A good choice for a beginner, it would not however satisfy a smoker that is looking for more complexity and depth. The small size of the cigar certainly does not help in making it more exciting. The flavour and feel of the is unique and does not remind a stick from Cuba or the neighbouring countries. A decent cigar overall, would definately be enhanced by a stronger blend.
TOTAL 78/100
Many thanks to Ferridegiri for supplying the cigars and to Nic for the distribution.

A Tambo Half Corona to start the day today. Great little cigar, burned straight like a champ, didnt need relighting, produced very generous amounts of smoke with a perfect draw and had a nice vegetal and sometimes sweet flavour. I probably smoked it too long, but it started tasting a little burnt near the end. My fault more than anything else. I actually thought it was more than mild, definitely more towards the medium/full side but that might be because my last cigar was a Fonseca which was so mild I didnt even know if it was lit some times.
I really enjoyed this little cigar, burned for 40 minutes perfectly. Thanks for the opportunity to try this cigar Ferridegiri!

Well i eventually got round to my sample cigar, i have to report some problems with mine, the first problem was it was soooo nice there wasnt enough.. haha wow i had actually forgotten id put mine into isolation in a plastic Butter container with a water pillow..
So it was nicely matured by my smoking standards, as you know in the hands of the Egg, cigars dont last long.. It was nice and smooth and very creamy, excellent even burn and didnt go out at all after it was lit. (maybe i never gave it chance) I toked on it quite merrily with a glass of Jack Daniels on ice. A very pleasent combination.
Im not sure about the nuttiness that has been reported by others, to me it was earthy and reminded me of being a child running through augtum (fall) leaves kicking as you run with the smell of the dampened leaves floating around as you run.. To me it was a quick smoke lasting about 20 to 25 minutes.
The draw was easy, not tight, with each draw there was a new begining a new excitement, when it was over i was disappointed that it wasnt slightly longer or thicker, but if it were, it might have changed the whole concept..
In essence, i thoroughly enjoyed this little cigar,, Thank you very much ferry, please send me some more.. :biggrin1: i will even let you bomb me with a few boxes, if you really insist :smoke:

These cigars look nice, where can you buy them? I looked on your website but couldn't see where to buy.

I got a note from Ferri about 6 weeks ago to say that he was leaving this company and moving to another. I don't think he got any UK distribution but they have got some US fans so I suspect they are available that side of the pond.

I was in contact with Ferri regarding importing these into the UK. Unfortunately, they would not have been competitively enough priced. :(
It's still on the back-burner though, maybe sometime?
