Cardiff would have been fine had the Council actually bothered to grit any roads whatsoever. It's not like you can tell through the power of weather forecast or sight that it was snowing.

Sounds like a great day ahead Bry! Unfortunately I managed to get into work, despite new snow this morning.

It's actually quite ridiculous to be land-locked by such a thin layer of ice and snow. The thing is it only takes a couple of frozen layers to stop play.
It has been dangerous trying to walk my dog around the local streets. I've done a couple of major pratfalls in the dark and ended up with a very sore arse.
Still, I have nothing urgent to do. I'm on my holiday! :cowboyic9:

Way too much snow around my parts. It took forever to dig out yesterday, thankfully we only get this much snow once every five years or so.

Bugger all here Mark, although I have my fingers crossed for a flurry or two. Even when it's a PITA, I like it.

I hope that's it for London and the South East now, as it stands people WON'T be coming for christmas, and that blows.

Bad again here in Wigan today. Snowed all night and belting it down now. Bloody gritters haven't been out either, so most of the roads are skating rinks

It's strange, but it must be a Scottish thing. My daughter lives in Inverness. When the weathermen say "don't travel", people don't travel! Perhaps if those in the south had the same level of understanding, we wouldn't have all the problems we're seeing on the roads!

I work for the county council. They tell people not to travel because the roads are too bad, but they are not pleased if we aren't in work! Hmmm

Ah, but that's inept management. Some people are only managers because it was their turn, not because they have any management skills. Local authorities are famous for this!

Got stranded in Bedfordshire last night after a business trip to Birmingham. My collage put me up and have just got home.
Not winging though, it is just snow and only this heavy every 10 years . Bit crazy to expect local councils to maintain fleets of gritters for this rare occurrence. By the same logic we should all carry snow chains in our boots for the rare occurrence.

I seem to recall there being a road salt shortage in the UK only last year monkey.
[EDIT] Haha! Nope, it was February this year!

Snows cleared a bit now. Side roads still like glass though. But through it all Posties managed the daily plod, the kid with the Local Free delivered, someone bunged in a load of menus from Chinese Take-Away .... but no sign of the Binnies and a stack of freezing binbags and waste food buckets (God knows what our Council use it for!) outside every gate for miles!
