Chatting to a very proffesional guy at Fox's one day , he said Beirut airport had the most amazing Humidor and smoking facilities, plus free sample cognac etc , now i know Beirut is ok for smoke in more ways than one , but has anyone been there ? :849:

Just looked on the airport site, 400sq m. Le Casa Habanos. Boasts to be the most impressive in the Middle East

Was only ever in Beirut while the war was going on. Hairy place! The airport didn't have a bar at the time and you depended on "trolly bars." A guy with a drinks trolly would come to you and serve you what you wanted. He also had a stock of Monte 4s and RyJ Churchills.

Not surprised to hear of the Humidor. After all, Beirut is the crossroads of Arabia.....

I have never been down there, but I do know they get some excellent RE.

I've heard great things about this LCDH, but have never been personally.

I can't comment on the habanos store, but I was in Lebanon around 8 years ago - amazing place. Great people, great food amazing sights. If you're thinking of going, make sure you get up to Baalbek. It's the most amazing set of roman ruins I've ever seen.
Having said all that, a friend of ours got stuck out there the last time the Israelis invaded - his impression was very different to mine.
If you can time your trip between wars, it's well worth visiting.

The Ramon Allones Phoenicio is the RE from Beirut. From what I've read that's an excellent cigar.

And if I remember correctly, the LCDH there is part of the middle east distributor which won the LCDH Man of the year (not 100% sure), so the stores must be nice.

Smoked it, nothing spectacular. Could do with age but will never be earth shattering. IMHO.

I had a great time in Beirut and met some true cigar aficianados/ collectors. Our main host was quite an important person and wherever we went police would salute the car as we passed!!

We also ventured on to Baalbek which was remarkably well preserved.

Everybody seemed to smoke and at the other end of the tobacco quality spectrum- I also enjoyed the argeeleh culture. As with cigars, you need to take time with a water pipe.

Phoenicia Trading Company is the distributor that owns the LCDH and yes, the owner was named LCDH Man of The Year. I believe his name is Mohamad Zaidan

I went for an all expenses paid trip in 05 that was sponsored by Mr. Zaidan and everybody's 'friend' Rony. We met up in Cyprus for a few days at the 4 seasons and visited many different ruins and beaches. Ate ate ate and ate some more, then saw one of the MASSIVE warehouse full of HSA master cases. Then off to Lebanon for the rest of the week. Took in the night life in the downtown area every night. Hit all the must see local tourist spots. As well as all EIGHT lcdh's not to mention the airport duty free LCDH's. The lounge is off the hook crazy good. Visited all of PTCo's offices and saw who the operation was run. I have never in my life seen that many cigars or had a better time.

If the chance ever comes up to go again we will for sure. Beaches there are so nice. Food is great. Can smoke anywhere. Just takes so long to get there from the USA.

Just a late update. After posting about how I was previously unimpressed by the Ramon Allones Phoenicio RE I chose to smoke another. This one was VERY good. Very flavourful and rich, a joy. Clearly this is a variable cigar that can be so-so to VERY good.
