I'm not sure if this has come up before but do some of you tend to stick to just one brand/style of cigar which is your main smoke?
I was talking to this bloke the other day and he only smokes cohiba robustos. Was wonering if it is common to stick to one specific cigar brand like people often do with cigarettes?

The two that I smoke the most of are Monte #4 and SLR pc. These are my daily smokes.

I think in general cigar smokers prefer variety .... and like to experience different tastes and brands.

I don't have just one brand/cigar that I smoke on a daily basis. I think it would get rather boring imo. Do have a favorite size that I reach for more often than others....CG.

I only smoke a few a week but I try and mix it up so it's not the same all the time, and so all my cigars get the chance to get some age.

it depends on whats smoking good. i dont have the luxury of hours at a time to enjoy bigger smokes to my 'regular' smoke would be a robusto at most.
for 08, i went through a bunch of hu connie1s and hdm epi2s of various years.

Smokers of this type are more numerous than one thinks!
In Paris tobacco shops I have often met gentlemen who smoked exclusively Lusitanias or D4s or Epicure #2 or Cohiba robustos, etc.
Of course these people do not attend the cigar forums, but they are the ones who keep tobacconists alive…

this is true. the regulars in our local shop have been smoking regularly for over a decade - every day the same cigar; monte4, plpc, etc... small vitolas. and yes, they know nothing of the internet cigar communities.
personally, i enjoy a variety of marcas and vitolas.

As other have said before, I am one of those that prefers variety so there isn't one smoke I stick to more than others.

I also like variety. Not just cigars but everything really.
I do the same job day in day out, so bollocks to sticking to the same thing.
Variety is the spice of life, and all that.
Sorry, rant over!

I HAVE to try and smoke a variety. Although 'georges reserve' sticks almost became an every day smoke, but I held off them incase I ever got bored of them, god I love that brand.

I do not smoke every day. I've just had about a fortnight off, and that's fairly typical of my cigar habit.
I've smoked my way through a lot of different Cuban Robustos, and my favourite cigars amongst them are my mainstays.
Much of this has to do with the uninterrupted time I can give to a smoke. I am usually very busy in my day job, so most smoking is done in the evening after work.
Having said that, I do always stock some smaller Cuban cigars for quicker occasions, and I love to light up Churchills and other bigger bastards when I can.
I prefer Cubans over NCs with a few notable exceptions.
I try to keep exploring new brands as much as I can, and when I hit my holidays, my cigar consumption and enjoyment can rocket because of the freedom I've got.
My go-to Robustos have been D4s and Juan Lopez No2 for quite a while.

I can't believe anyone interested enough in cigars to join this or any such forum would stick with only one or two sticks (or even brands). Such people couldn't really say their interset was in "cigars" but rather in "Monte 4's" or whatever.
This thread reminds me of an old (old)(and wealthy) family friend who had to give up smoking on health grounds. On learning that I had recently developed an interest in cigars he appologised that he had just passed his "Bolivars" on to his step-son. It has always intigued me whether he just had the remains of a box of Coronas, or a whole humidor filled with a range of different Bolis. And more intriguingly - if he'd known about my interest earlier whether I might have been the recipient of a few well-aged sticks (something that I took him to be implying).

For me, the Monte's and SLR are my go to sticks as far as smoking on a regular basis. Meaning, I never miss a day of smoking one. Other than that, I smoke many different brands and sizes.

my most common smoke is a monte no. 4 but i do like to try different sticks regularly - thats why i find this forum so informative.
when i was a kid i used to go into Kapp & Peterson every month with my Grandfather to collect his box of H.Upmann coronas - he never varied from these and indeed only ever bought them from the same to tobacconist !
different strokes ect...

Couldn't dream of smoking the same thing every time...experiencing the different tastes, aromas, sizes etc. is half the fun.
If I had to smoke one cigar only for the rest of my life it would probably be the RyJ short churchill for a myriad of reasons including its suitability as either a daytime or evening smoke and its value for money........much as I love em - THANK GOD I DON'T HAVE TO !! :smoke:
