I am booked for this (don't know if there are any places left).

When I spoke to Fred he sad we were trying a Cohiba Magicos and the old Tawny port. This is a change (for the better IMHO) from the MC Edmundo that I was told about originally.

Who else is coming?

I've not got a ticket for the official event & have to leave about 6:00 anyhow as I'm due elsewhere for 8:00, but I could get along for a pre-herf.

Anyone likely to be there for 5:00, or possibly a bit earlier?

just to warn you guys- last time, i was having a drink with Dan Pink from H&F before and they didnt want us to go out there until they had set up - so i am not sure if they would kick you at a certain time - just to be warned. Those who do go for a pre herf - have a good time and hope to catch you there - ill be in at around 1745.

Thanks, Jimmeh - not worth me turning up then.

I'm sure I'll make it to one of the tastings (the Guantanamera & Mateus special, knowing my luck).

If any forum members want to drop into my West Hampstead cigar store ( 2 minutes from the tube station) you can sample some Robert Graham single malt with my compliments and enjoy an Upmann corona junior for a Quid :-) Just enough of a smoke for a dram of scotch!

Mention the forum when you pop in though!

Best

Had a great day with Big T and Jimmy and a few others. Trev and I started out at Sautters and i got romanced by a 1998 Upmann Sir Winston (first of the box). Didn't get to smoke it so now it is sitting in the humi smiling at me.

Took Trev to Flat Whites so he could see what a decent espresso tastes like, bumped into some friends, it was a gas.

We then moved onto La Casa where Trev had a 2000 Belicos Finos and I had a 2003 R and J Hermosa No1 LE. The R and J was a good enough smoke but did not rock my world, the last third was better but wont be buying another one any time soon.

Then onto Ten Manchester and time for a quick RASSC before the main event. We all had the Maduro 5 Magicos. Whilst these are very nice smokes I think it was fair to say no one was bowled over or converted.

The Chasemiester (sorry Simon, Deano made me say it) was on good form and we got the full run down of the history of Cohiba and Trinidad as well as a health debate about ring gauges.

The tawny port was an excellent accomplice and in true UKCF style we finished off the evenings supply. More cigars smoked and port consumed as we sat under warm heaters with snow blowing in from the sides!

My next stick was an 05 Monte 1 which was great and super smooth. We put the world to rights as T got Cained and James Duked. I finished of with my last Monte Robusto 2006LE which was the best stick of the day by far (these are so good, buy any that you can).

We got to watch T doing his best Linford Christie / Jessie Owen's / Hussein Bolt impersonation (something about a train running on time) and James and I wandered off across a surprisingly quiet and cold West end towards Bond St tube.

The Chasemiester
I should take some responsibility for that one....
