Well as a cigar fan i've gone full circle i'd say; I've lusted for big vitola and time sink smokes, now that it is cold, and my lust for a smoke is still there, but slightly hampered due to adverse climates. I now find myself wanting a smoking experience just as much, but a more compact and concise one. I love a churchill as much as the next BOTL, but smoking in sub temps does take the fun away.
I was browsing a site and saw some good offers on Quintero pantelas, and it got me thinking; why dont I actually buy a smaller vitola instedda complaining about the cold and long smoke times?!
So here's the question, what small smokes (pantelas-corona) are pretty good for 30-45 minutes that pack a good punch?! Yep MR B is lookin to buy cubans. I know that the small cuban vitolas pack a great punch (if the bolivar bonitas are anything to go by) so im willing to pay CC prices for some littleys.
Thing is I'm not into small smokes so i'd love to hear some first hand experiences. What should I look out for before I start blind-creditcarding on the cuban outlets?! :cowboyic9:

Partagas Shorts never disappoint...
Also, Trini Reyes taste great, but I have had serious construction issues with them.
I would go with the Party Shorts!!! Best bang for the buck.

Just buy some minis and wait until it gets warmer. Anything you smoke properly will last at least half an hour. Only time I'm smoking anything else is in someone else's house or in the car at the moment. Don't spoil it!

Party Shorts, Trinny Reyes, Cuaba Divinos, San Cristóbal El Príncipe, RA Small Club, JL Petits, RyJ P Princess, Monte 5's .... all of these are very tastey with IMO the Divinos just having the edge.
I've not tried Siglo I or the Secretos Maduro so can't say, but there's no shortage of good, short Cuban smokes.
Two more which I have bought, but not opened yet, are Party Aristocrats and the smaller Chicos — which are about the size of a Hamlet and not that much different in cost — and could be easily smoked outside on cold days.
Another budget Cuban is the Jose L Piedra Petit Cazadores, but I've yet to try one.

I agree with dave there, I just can't get in to any cigars in this cold. Save it! Always like the idea but sat on my arse in the cold yesterday with a Churchill couldn't get into it
Besides party shorts, Hoyo petit robustos, tho they can last as long as normal robustos sometimes. Punch petit punch, hoyo de "XX" range, MUST try RdM demi tasse, some good petit robusto REs coming out this year too :)

Cuaba divinos are powerful for such a small stick if you're looking for strength.
My first choice for a small smoke though would be Trini Reyes by a mile. The construction is always flawless and I've never had one that was plugged, which can often be a problem associated with smaller gauge cigars.
Oh, and they're delicious :top:

I love Minuto & Perla sized cigars - smoked more of these than any other size & to me they all epitomise their respective brands.
Partagas Shorts & RASCC are both widely likened to their DC brothers, Hoyo De Depute are Epi 2 in miniature, Siglo 1's are yum, Trini Reyes one of my absolute favourites, Bolivar Corans Junior deliver Bolivar in spades, R&J Tres PC's are surprisingly powerful for the vitola/marca, the various Punch (Delux, Petits etc) all good-great, Monte 5 my favourite of the brand other than 2, H Upman Petit/JC - a Cuban in miniature, St Christobel El Principe one of Simon Chase's top 10, as are Cuaba Divinos - In fact I can't think of a bad one.
I know some people just can't get on with small cigars, but assuming you're not one of those, then you should be able to find something between 4-4 1/2" & ring guage of 40-42 to satisfy you. Just pick your favourite brand(s) & miniaturise.
If you want something even quicker to smoke hunt out Partagas Chico's (I don't think you'll find them in the uk). I quote Min Ron Nee on these: "Full of old style robust Partagas flavour. One of my favourite cigars." - not bad for a machine made. I used to get these in mini dress boxes of 25 from a supermarket in Tenerife & would have fully agreed with MNR but a more recent 5 pack wasn't quite the same (possibly changed blend etc) although still a worthwhile smoke.

used to love rascc but recent sticks from my 07 box have all been pretty lackluster. so for now im in the preference for shorts or principes.

At the moment i have party shorts and RASCC and the RA for me are much better, though i would like to try some Trini Reyes. If you prefer a robusto just smoke half one day and the rest the next. Simples.

hi all... first post :)
On the more expensive side, I really like the H.Upmann Mag 48 EL2009s as a short smoke.

Yet another vote for the Party Shorts. Hard to beat for a quick smoke imo.
