See my signature...
It's not an issue. I'm on an even number at the moment, so if I gave one up I'd only have to replace it with another (just to be safe...)

Why don't you adopt another vice so if you had to give one up it wouldn't have to be cigars or alcohol.
How about bar billiards? That could be a vice if you went about it in the right way I'm sure.

I'm off the booze and cigars for a while, no real reason, just like to detox occasionally. :849: Physical addiction only lasts a couple days, that's for anything. Psycological addiction is a whole different story, if you believe in it!

One of the reasons I started smoking was to stop me drinking as much! So booze can go easily

Look, snook, why such grim thoughts? The simple fact of the matter is that we're all gonna die. Vices are just nature's way of getting you there a little quicker. So, if it's a choice of dying a few months sooner, happy or dying a few months later, miserable... then I say Bring On The Vices!

I have pretty much given up alcohol because I wasn't enjoying it, don't get me wrong I am not all religious about it, I still love a glass of champagne and good red wine but I can't say I miss it.
I never really seriously smoked, never got into cigarettes and only smoke a cigar when I enjoy it, mainly with company it's just not the same on my own.
Now if someone can figure how to get me off real proper freshly baked white bread with lashings of butter and Marmite or even better Tiptree raspberry jam then I might even get back into my wedding suit!!!

When I smoke a good cigar, I'm appreciating it and enjoying all of the subtleties that it presents at that moment. When I'm drinking a nice ale, I appreciate its hops and wonder what was used to make it. When I'm drinking a lovely single-barrel whisky, Im contemplating it's virtues and lost in the moment.
If these be vices, then bring them on. While greater minds have been quoted, I wouldn't trust a man without a few vices.

Gave up booze and drugs 13 years ago( with a little help from those kind folk at the priory). Gave up cigarettes 6 years ago.
Had my first cigar in June, last year and I'm as addicted as feck!!!

I only ever drink at the weekends but it's a big part of my wind down.....I reckon I could live without the cigars but not the booze....if I was really pushed to give one up...:frown:...I sound like an alky....

I drink very little. I have no real taste for it, and I have a great sense of caution about losing self-control due to it. I'm the son of a circus ring alcoholic. Hence the caution. I could give up alcohol really easily and not miss it. I spend months even now without an alcoholic drink.
I'm too locked into cigar enjoyment to give cigar smoking up. I've given up before and have been drawn back to the humidor by the rich aroma of another person's wonderful cigar.
I don't smoke an excessive number of cigars but if I was told I HAD TO give cigar smoking up - say for health reasons - then I know I could summon up the willpower to do it.
I would miss the peace and subtlety of cigar smoking like hell, though.
