Slow Burners?

I'm thinking of making a new purchase in the near future, but I find most of my cigars go a bit more quickly than I'd like, though I might be smoking them too greedily (these days, they include the RASS, Partagas D4, Partagas shorts, and Monte ex. #2). Any suggestions for a long-haul cigar, something that would easily last an hour or more?

I think you are smoking those a little too greedily, as the RASS and PSD4 should easily last you an hour.

But, if you are looking for a bigger smoke, you can't go wrong with the Upmann Mag 46 or 50. Both good smokes and should last you longer than an hour!

I'd go with a similar sized ring, just a little longer cigar. Perhaps you could be a churchill guy? Robustos are perfect for me! White pipe!

I suggest hoyo epicure especial. They are about half an inch or slighly more longer than a robusto and a fine smoke. You can also get them in boxes of 10 and they are quite reasonably priced.

I've had my eye on these--would you recommend the epicure over the des Dieux? Or the 1 over the 2?

Also before you make a purchase ensure your humi isnt too dry if it is they will burn fast. Enjoy :smoke:

May I suggest you try Juan Lopez No2?

I find these cigars ALWAYS burn slowly and evenly. Never had a lop-sided burn with one of these. You can let them rest for a good while and they stay alight. What's more they are complex and delicious throughout.

If you want a cigar that lasts for an hour or more, here you have it. If you are a fan of the D4, I'd say you'll be in heaven with a JL2.

I make most Robustos last 80 to 90 minutes typically, and I don't skimp on the draw.

I bought 25 Bolivar Royal Coronas in Cuba recently and they are wonderful on all scores but PARTICULARLY because they are my all-time slowest burning Havana cigars. They are orgasmic and they put it out - and they just don't shift. A long, long smoke.

I have absolutely no idea why but I'm not complaining!

I haven't tried the des dieux, all i can say is the epicure is very nice, medium bodied, creamy taste. I prefer the epicure 2 over the 1.

I've got the Juan Lopez 2 short listed, along with the Hoyo, but the Bolivars look interesting too. So many great choices...

Good point--I've got two calibrated digital hygrometers--been at a steady 66 or 67 degrees for a long while now. The RASS actually burn more slowly than the the Partagas D4--they seem less dense than the RASS.

Well,
I just finished myself a Bolivar Royal Corona, and I get it. That sucker lasted well over an hour and a half, and was a consistent, rich smoke all the way through. It was a bit tight and went out a couple of times, but I assume that's because there's a helluva lot of tobacco in there and my cigars are a bit young (august 09). I'm going to let the rest sit a while and then, on a nice, leisurely summer day, sit in the garden and toke away. Thanks for the suggestions!

IMO I feel the epicure is a girls cigar :biggrin1:, lacks that punch in the mouth feeling that you get from the epi no.2 :849:
