as much as i love whisky with all my heart mind and soul... that doesn't sound like a tactic id employ ever ever!
not even in the NC humidor, if I ever had one, which I won't, because I don't like NCs,:biggrin1:
but yes, i think everyone will agree on here, get that whisky sponge out of there, maybe suck on it a bit, squeeze the dregs into a glass and sup it, and then replace with a sponge soaked purely in distilled water

Yeh, it will flavour the cigars and damage their sultry smell and taste to buggery - do not try this at home!

Hi and welcome to the forum.
The whisky will probably have had a detrimental effect on the cigars:( so, out of kindness, not wanting to give you a bad impression of the joys of smoking a good cigar, I would suggest you send them on to me.:biggrin1: I promise that after a few months I will let you know how many were adversely affected and therefore how lucky you were not to have your tastebuds sullied by them.
Always happy to help.:rock::smoke::smoke:

You have two option: either add some coke and ice, or get this thing out of the humidor!

Hi Mathew and welcome to the ... Mad House/Forums (delete as applicable).
Your rather unusual, and some might say, unique, conundrum intrigues me I must admit.
Therefore, purely in the interests of: scientific research . . furthering the knowledge base of my fellow BOTL . . and, satisfying my warped sense of curiosity. I propose nominating myself as the forums 'guinea pig', to 'test drive' one of them there whiskey infused seegars to see if its exposure to aromatic, alcoholic fumes has had a deleterious or propitious effect on the said stogie.
Who knows, it might catch on! Imagine a hint of 'Tia Maria' with a RASS, or a trace of 'Kahlua' with your D4???

Welcome to the forum mate.
Some years ago a mate used to flavour his cigars with brandy by putting a shot glass full in the sealed jar he used to store his smokes. He reckoned that the longer you left them in then the stronger the flavour got,and he loved them. He did make a cock up later on when he moved to a larger jar and stuck the cigars and shot glass straight in without checking the jar first. After a couple of weeks he opened the jar up and could only smell and taste the pickled onions that it had once been used to store:smile:

Seems like the whisky was used dually to flavor and possibly fend off mold? Either way it most likely did it's job and you now have cigars with an altered flavor from original. Good or bad is really up to the smoker so I won't weigh in on that. If you are after the humidor then it's an easy fix. Air it out, reseason and return to service and you have a few 'bonus' sticks lying around for occasional smoker friends, working in the garden, walks in the rain or leveling tables in restaurants. If you are after the lot of cigars and the humidor then you should smoke a few and see if you like the flavor imparted by the whisky (if any) and adjust your purchase price accordingly.
Welcome to the forum and enjoy your stay!

I'll join the club. Try and get rid of the whisky. A wonderful substance though it is, I personally wouldn't want it altering my stogies.

Agreed .... if it really did anything for Cuban cigars the manufacturers would have been onto it centuries ago.

A guy i knew put Rum or Brandy in his humidifier, not a great idea to alter the taste but as said before change the sponge or whatever and you should be ok.

Why on earth would anyone put whiskey in a humidor humidifier????? :der:
The cigars will certainly have altered tastes, but hell, if the cigars were free, then smoke away anyhow!!! If they are not free, I certainly wouldn't pay full price!
just get a new humidifier and fill it with distilled water from now on... :biggrin1:

well i think glass humidor will be best for you, as well as if you also consider some good display then definitely it will be a better option, as well as it also controls the moisture level.
