View Full Version : My modest collection

Hi there.
I've been reading these fora for a few weeks and have finally plucked the courage to show my humble stash. I have only recently got into cigars after a friend bought a pack of Hamlets (yeah, I know...) at a golf course. I bought a few online and then read I need something to keep 'em in. But the humidor looked sad being nearly empty, so I filled it up.
I bought a collection of different smokes on Cgars and (probably down to what I chose) much preferred the NC's, and I've kinda stuck with them.
Anyway, enough of my ramblings. Congratulations on a great forum - they're few and far between.

There's 48 in there: La Rica Churchills, Oliva series V Torpedos, Chinchalero Picadillos and Chinchalero Novillos. Not the most expensive of sticks but I like 'em. I've ordered some Spanish cedar to cut into dividers to fit between the different types, but for now that'll have to do. Just going out to try one of those 66RG Novillos (only discovered them from a link on here).

We all start somewhere Skins! And it looks like you are headed in the right direction
That Oliva V is a fine smoke...have not tried the rest but if you like them that's all that matters. Smoke what you like, and like what you smoke!
Welcome aboard and enjoy the ride...(oh, and think about getting a larger humi in the not so distant future :smoke: It's happened to all of us )

Welcome aboard Skins.
What is it about a humi? They always seem to be able to draw me in and make me want to dive in and try one.

Currently sitting outside in the sun with a Ristretto and one of the Novillos. It's a nice smoke with good draw and burning evenly. I'm sharing a box with a mate but I may just keep the lot.

A very nice starting point there Skins. It's a tidier looking humi than mine (and, dare I say it, larger... ;) ).
I'm just trying to sight a bigger one so that I can buy a couple of boxes.

One bad thing - it's burning way too quickly (is it rude to go get another?).
I think this one's going to be a lip-burner.

Hello and welcome
It's not too late you know, to turn back and find some other, less expensive, less time-consuming, obsessive compulsive disorder to devote your time and resources to....
Ah well, don't say you weren't warned.
There is only one 'Hamlet' worth your time . . http://www.millan.net/anims/giffar/hamlet.gif . . and he got buried, NOT 'cremated'!
Glad to hear you've 'turned to the dark side' though . . . i.e. 'Proper' seegars.
All we need to do now is wean you off the NC's and on to CC's (the superior product - sit down and shush all you NC heathens), and . .http://www.millan.net/minimations/smileys/vader.gif(imagine this next bit in an evil, wheezy voice) . . 'soon your journey towards the 'dark side' will be complete'!

try the invicta coronas
Are they the ones without the bands? If so I tried the Churchill variant and wasn't too impressed except for the price.
Thanks for the warm welcome everyone - I think I'll stick around.

That's my one. Reason I got that one is because I wanted to have it in a drawer and with the glass lid I can see quickly if my babies are OK. I upgraded to an Adorini hair hygrometer from http://www.humidordiscount.com/ and it's been pretty reliable (I think) after salt-testing.

I thought they were OK, but after I had a series V I guess you're right. I still like them though and at less that £3/stick they're damn good value per cubic inch of tobacco.
welcome buddy! the olivia Vs are a smashing cigar. good start!

Hi , i enjoyed the picadillos when i first got into cigars, and still enjoy them, main thing is keep them well, maybe invest in a digital hygrometer for better accuracy, enjoy the forum.:cowboyic9:

Hello Skins and welcome to the forum. Those Oliva V's are a fine smoke. I too started out with a small humi like yours then got another one then finally broke down and built a coolerdor. Its all downhill once you start.

Are they the ones without the bands? .
Yes there the ones unbanded from cgars, each size has a different taste, i tried the churchils to but they need to ba aged a little while, the coronas and petite coronas are the nicer i think in the La Invicta range, but thats my personal tastes. When you start on the cubans.. hehe try the partagas D4's and the Romeo y Julieta range, others may disagree but they are my favs at the moment. They are also reasonably priced.:smoke:

woww the humi looks the shit. nice one matey!
ooh - Oliva Vs, from the few I have tried I would say they are a quality smoke.
I was eyeing up buying some of those Perlas a while back as they look a real bargain, just never got round to trying any. How do they smoke skins?

Cant argue with eggopp on this, I would also recommend Juan Lopez no2s and Hdm Petit Robsutos. Both very well priced and consistently fine smokes, especially the JLs.
