tried a few of these as singles with fairly indifferent results. Taste on most was fine, but draw wasn't the greatest. Of them all the best I'v tried was the RA Ramonitas. (Unfortunatly now no longer available or I'd have a box straight away). I'v not tried the PL MonteCarlos, LGC Med.3's or the Qd'O Panetelas.
Does anyone have any views or recommendations?

I often find this size of Cigar has quite a tight draw, but the best one for me is the...
.....Partagas Serie du Connoisseur No2.
A wonderful Cigar :41:
But hurry, being discontinued

Hear, hear !
I've also enjoyed the ridiculously skinny RG Slenderella, which my vendor claimed was too girly for me :pop2:

Maybe also I've put this thread in the wrong section as I would like to leave the door open for non-cuban suggestions as we don't hear much about Panatella size NC's.

I'll shift it over to 'Cigar Discussion' if you like?

Here's a few Cuban Suggestions, all good. To conteract the sight tightness you may get (lagNo3 most prone) then keep them a little drier before smoking).

Nice selection KotW, one or two of those aren't easy to come by!

They are a replica of a rare disontinued vitola. I had a couple when they were released last year and they were very, very good. Also the size is unusual for REs and the presentation wrapped in silver foil like Cazadores is fantastic.
they also sell a little box with 2 of each 09 RE in Germany.
but the other RE, Quinta Avenida, pale in comparison, I found them bland.
not quite a panatela either...

Cheers Tippexx, the Punch Nifa 2001, came from Boisdales, believe they may still have one or two if you ever pass through? The LGC No 3 I think I brought in Spain, not available bransd in Belgie. The Hoyo Margartas was the hardest find, CdH Soho couple of yrs ago.
The Slendi has to be my fav, had one recently with:coffee:
a good starter, a delicate draw required but rewards with gingerbread flav. Usually think of these types of vitola as summer smokes but this went down well enough in Jan, in the warm of course.
The last two were taken at my last visit to CdH Soho, a wk before the ban came in place. And managed to upset the Producer of 'Belle du Jour' as he discussed with the Director Susan Tulley (ex Eastenders) locations & hotels to shoot the series, whiolst she chain smoked fags. Unluckily Billy Piper never showed.:(

My brother & I have between us smoked more than 3 boxes of Gloria 3's & never found the slightest hint of plugging - which matches MRN's experiences. If you're looking for some - try AJ as he has a soft spot for them.
Had a couple of RG Slenderellas without problem & a few more of the equivalent-sized ERDM's which were all a bit tight (but tasty) to say the least, possibly becuase they were also the youngest sticks. Age certainly helps the draw with such slim cigars.
One of my all trime favourite cigars is the Cohiba Panatela. Ridiculously expensive (in this country, certainly) but unbelievably tasty for such a small smoke. I've also enjoyed a couple of boxes+ of Monty Joyitas. Used to have a source for these from the early 90's & they were wonderful. I have one stick left:-(
And Romeo Panatelas, noticebly thicker than Cp's & Joyitas are also worth looking out for, but I think discontinued. They were my go to smoke for the pub, or at gigs when such a thing was allowed. I think they still make RG Panatellas which are a more than decent, great value Cuban smoke. I never quite understood if they were/are machine or hand made - certainly long filler. Great quality if the former & fantastic value if the latter.
As you can probably tell, I'm rather partial to a thin cigar.

Never tried the Gloria 3's, but I do have a box of 4's and reckon them as terrific smokes.
The Romeo's I haven't happened on. I've had a Monte Joyita but it was so plugged as to be un-smokable. Tried a Cohiba, thought it very dry and very woody. After the RA Ramonitas I think the next best was the Punch Margaritas, but again just a bit tight on the draw. Although to be fair, I've tried smoking all of them on damp, freezing cold, winter nights and proberbly not perfect conditions for smaller gauge cigars.

Well, you can't always have it all. But that Slenderella seems to have made up for it OK!

I have one of these sitting in my humidor waiting for it to get warm enough outside so I can smoke it. Will do a review on these boards.

That would be interesting Daize.
I've narrowed my choice field to three, with the Montecarlos being one of them, but based on reviews as I've never tried one.
The others are the Punch Margaritas, which I really enjoy and the Quai d'Orsay
Panatellas, again based on reviews and also because they aren't going to be around much longer.
Anyone on here tried the Qd'O?

If you can get your hands on a HdM Le Hoyo du Dauphin then do, well worth a try. No longer in production, but they are out there at the moment. At the thicker end of the panatela spectrum (coming in at 38RG, a Laguito No2). I've thoroughly enjoyed my few, as did a friend who tried one a couple of days ago.

I really like the Rafael Gonzalez Panatelas Extra.
It is a fairly quick smoke with a nice draw and good flavour.
5 inches long, Ring Gauge of 37

A rather underated decent & very ecomonical smoke. Always had a box or two in the humi, although I have let them run down recently as I have been favouring Belinda Princesses. Still next trip to Spain, I'll definatley buy another couple of boxes, I prefer them with two yrs+ on them. Great fishing smoke.
