The Government is hell bent on damning smokers with no thought of any pleasure gained by Cigar smokers who are lumped together with all other smokers.

Please sign this petition if you agree with it. Closing date is Boxing Day so be quick!

“We the undersigned petition the Prime Minister to reconsider his Government’s proposal to ban the display of tobacco products in shops, and consider instead ensuring stronger enforcement of the law to prevent underage sales and illicit trade and to make it illegal for adults to buy tobacco on behalf of anyone under 18”.

I've put this on a musos' website, Drew, and it has not surprisingly gained some signatures - as well as some indignation aimed at the Nanny State.

Yup.

Literally just read Brave New World again this afternoon (haven't read it since i was a teenager)... think I'll have to dig into 1984 again next... it's all a bit frightening how spot on it all is.

At least if they fully criminalise smoking it'll get cheaper as they won't be banging all that tax on them! Just not sure I fancy having a dealer. lol

Couldn't agree more! Huxley was bang on, and much of 1984 rings so true. Still, we Orwells are all quite shrewd! (A rare surname).

There was a Dennis Potter drama - the last finished for TV before he died, I'm sure - where one of the characters had a forbidden and highly illegal cigarette hidden in a drawer.

Yup. Like the main chap in this town who for years has acted as an all-year Santa Claus with pre-ordered Moroccan blocks for the stay-at-home Middle Classes fearing a bust, so we'll all be black marketeering Havana filth quite soon down the line, I reckon.

I hope Boots will be putting Calpol behind special curtains in case we all rush into addiction.

Got any clarky cats? :biggrin1:

I've got an old (1974) Dads Army board game which is quite collectable.
Put it on ebay, and they took it off saying it didn't comply with their rules as it refers to violence/racism etc.
How stupid is this world becoming?
