Dubai Airport Duty Free

Anyone experience the Casa in Dubai airport. Got a good friend going there who wants to pick up a box or two.

Any special regional releases or new releases he should know about, is the quality/pricing good?

My father picked up a box of JLPCs ('03 and smoking gorgeously) last October for about £70 Monkey, although they were from the other outlet in departure. I'm unsure of the name, but I think it was the standard Dubai Duty Free outfit. Not specifically to the point of your question, but some additional information nonetheless:smile:

They have to big stores in the airport, plenty of selection and good prices. I wasn't completely aware of what was good or not at the time so can't comment on LEs/REs.

my friend picked me up a box of 10s psd4 and a box of dukes in january there were in great condition i think i paid £140-£150 something like that

The Regional Editions available there are the Bolivar double corona, ('07 for Middle East), and the Punch Robusto, ('08 for Emirates).

In last November, the Bolivar was sold out but the Punch was still available for 1035 dihrams (=about £185).

Correct, IMHO, and the only LCDH in an airport AFAIK.

Selection is great, prices about 40/50 % below Germany and very good quality on sale.
I have been there frequently and always had a great shopping experience.

One feature I enjoy is that you may buy after arrival, pass the passport control, on your left before grabbing your suitcase and going out.

The LCDH is located in the large departure hall within the central DF area.

That's Mr Melville, one of the three guys ( Duncan & Raj the other 2 ) working the shifts there at the Casa in the earlier days.
Not sure they're still around.

Another feature is (or was) that you could call ahead, order your cigars with them and they would be waiting for pick up at the aforementioned Arrival Duty Free store past passport control.

Excellent service.

That would be their basic, standard "everyday" stock for a printed price list of their DF offers - not for the Casa that is located within the DF.

There is no way they could have all of their stock and selection on print, way too much and their turn-around is too quick.

Would be better to ask specific brand, vitola and price from the Casa ( not the DF ) or give them a call and talk to the Casa directly.

Just returned from Dubai and, as always, could not resist the delights of the duty free. IMHO this is one of the greatest places in the world to buy cigars.

There is an excellent selection and the prices are superb. This time round I loaded up with:

Montecristo Petit Edmundo, box of 10, TGU MAR09 - 300 AED or £53
Montecristo No5, box of 25, PUB AGO08 - 460 AED or £81
R&J Short Churchill, box of 10, SOA DIC07 - 315 AED or £56

The people who work in the shop are pretty rubbish and don't really know a great deal, but I cannot recommend the stock and prices enough!

If you get the chance, defintiely worth a visit.
