View Full Version : Boring Work At A Desk - Cigar - Yes? Or No?

So you have a pile of routine stuff to do at your desk or on a computer.

I don't mean mind-enhancing stuff like writing a chapter of something or other, or getting on with an academic essay.

I mean dull, dull, routine and DULL.

So when it's dull, do you smoke during it?

I've got a tedious job on mission statementing and aims and objectivising and gubbins that I've had to do on a number of occasions before. It's not stimulating. It's just policy updating.

I decided I wouldn't smoke over this task because it would be a waste and I wouldn't appreciate the cigar.

So I'm off outdoors and to my warm shack with a pep me up P2 as a beautiful reward for getting the job half done.

But I wondered...

Does anyone crack a cigar off over dull dull dull work?
Does it make it easier?

Do tell. :smoke:

I do when working from home and it definitely lifts the spirits.

I do find the mind wonders after half hour with the magical Cuban weed though!

Yep, it is a bit better working from home to light up after 1024 emails in a row, almost got late for a meeting today, because of that monte and the "morning" coffee ! ! !

I do as well when working from home.

I agree it lifts the spirits, but does make the mind drift off a bit. :biggrin1:

I dream about having one at work, and even though im the boss, my staff complain about having to look at them, let alone me smoke them lol

I do have one on the way home though, and something Robusto said the other day struck me, about a cigar helping with his toothache, a cigar on the way home completely clears my headache.

I had a really DULL and mundane day at work on Tuesday, i went and sat outside in the office car park, astride my motorbike and smoked a D4 in the rain. I enjoyed it and it gave me a new lease of energy to finish the job when i got back inside :smoke: Apart from that, everyone thought i was nuts:der:

Sounds superb, eggsopher. Especially with a D4.

Where else could we share these anecdotes, eh?!

I'm so pleased that most folk do not understand the concept "D4 Joy".
It leaves the good times to the rest of us!

Some of the stogie sharing stuff used to be daaaahn the pub... but no more... :frown:

I routinely smoked cigars when I was working from home, makes the task less mundane imo

i have noticed at home though when i light up a cigar and try to get something done with the computer, all i worry about is the cigar. which is fine!

Every time I have a stack of essays to sit down and grade, I curse the fates. Then I light up and have at it. It makes the drudgery bearable, it does.

Looks perfect!

Are you allowed to smoke in your office on US / UK soil, Sir?

If so, I believe we can call you one lucky bastard! :smoke:

Unfortunatly no, but I do chomp on a cigar now and then, unlit, usually on a Friday.
The only place in the US military you can still smoke is onboard submarines, but that ends in Sept 2010

If only I could smoke at work.

Unfortunately I may get called out at any time and just don't have the time.

Shame would be cool for me if I could.

I often find myself smoking when I've got some boring work to do at home but like others have said my mind can wander. I remember quite a few years back I worked outside and we would all be smoking when working, was pretty relaxing but got quite expensive smoking before, during and after work lol

I've done 90 minutes' boring work on my laptop this afternoon. After a cup of tea, I did another 90 minutes of the same chore over a P2. The second 90 minutes were much less of a pain.

I myself am unable to smoke during work.. BUT I did break the law the other week and smoked a fine cigar in my company vehicle whilst driving home from London to sandbach. Sooo good..

I usually smoke when reading throught the UKCF in the morning, unfortunately I cannot smoke at work.

Nothing better than reading through the posts while enjoying a nice cigar.:41:

Obviously I can't smoke in the Sickbay but we have a Smoking TV room & a Smoking Tea Shack on the rig. I try never to do work when smoking, even going on the net in my local Belgie cafe to write up the cigar I have just had, distracts me from the one I am currently smoking. For me there's a big seperation between cigars & work. Do the work, enjoy the reward afterwards.:41:

I light up a cigar when I get in the car to go to work, smoke all day long at work, & grab one out of the humidor for the ride home, running a cigar shop has its advantages !!!!
