Fake
If it was real it'd be all over the jailbreaking sites....but their all disecting the new os

If you read into it some more- there is quite strong evidence that it is likely to be the next iPhone. I am reserving judgement, but it is all over the jailbreaksite I follow.....

Gizmodo claims it is real thing :biggrin1:
I guess they have been collecting information on "how would u like to change your iphone" for 5 years and just about now made it the right way LOL
lets see, the old one was 3G, then 3G-S (where S stands for MMS) now this one would be Iphone 4GSF , where F would stand for flash haha
or Iphone 4GSFM - flash + multitasking, eh seriosly?!it was about time!

It contains Apple components on a finished PCB (very, very unlikely in any kind of far eastern copy), it is recognised by itunes (also very hard for a copy), it has a 960 screen (very latest size/resolution density), a micro SIM card (just like the ipad), functional evolution of the iphone, it was found 20 miles from Apple HQ, it was wearing a case to make it look like a 3Gs (a disguise is common when field testing prototypes), the timing is correct and Apple have reported it missing!

The national press are also running with it (and they don't bother with the endless photoshop hoaxes).

Gizmondo believe it is real and they are respected and would not put their name/reputation to it if they thought it was fake. If it is not real then it is the best hardware hoax ever..... oh, and I would not have posted it unless it was very likely it is real ...but then I have been wrong before :)

Mmm must be missing something then.....
Ho hum, as usual time will tell

It does look nice though, but apple wil never give us flash slots :(

This might explain why new os doesnt support older devices....apple coming up to force upgrade

like I said, it was about time :der:

Well I am reasonably convinced it is the real deal. It is time to shoot my 3G anyway and I refused to upgrade to the 3GS as it was a big chunk of money for not that much more. I do hate the way Apple behaves as a company though and I hope this has Steve Jobs knickers in a total twist.

Will I buy one? Well 02 is shit where I live and I have struggled with it since the launch of the 3G (which I got insanely cheap a week after launch, another reason I never upgraded, don't want back in a contract) so if V4 is on the Satan that is Vodafone, which has great 3G where I live, then maybe I will.

It is just a pity I do not like anything else particularly. My Blackberry Bold sits at home unloved. My SE Xperia X1 is utterly lovely to hold but horribly fragile. The Nexus one does not ring my bell. I was holding out for the Linux/Meamo based Nokia N900 (I loved my N810) but that was a let down and expensive. Will somebody PLEASE do something better than Apple so I do not get drawn into the hateful fanclub that is Apple/iPhone ownership and the dubious wankers it attracts.

Have you looked at the HTC Desire? I'm extremely pleased with mine.

It's real. I'll be grabbing one come June, due an upgrade and stuck on the 3G at the mo.

daverave999, I have not looked at that one. A friend had the Hero and hated it. I shall google some info on the Desire now. Cheers for the tip.

Deano, you just got a 3GS!!!!!

some more here

http://www.theregister.co.uk/2010/04/20/iphone_loser/

I will be waiting a year as I got my 3GS last year. Probably means i won't want to even touch a 4G for fear of 12 months of hardware envy.

the Desire is amazingly good, i had the hero , sold it and bought again g1 lol
but the desire is just so bloody fast with 1ghz snapdragon and that resolution + amoled display... completely different thing..

I will stick to my Blackberry Bold 2. I have had blackberrys for several years with no problems at all. I know it doesn't have the same apps etc that the iphone has, but from a business perspective I can't fault it.

I have a couple of friends with iphones who have nothing but problems with them, I have liked what I have seen when playing around with them , and as a very long term business contract owner with orange I can have one free, I may consider one next time seeing as you guys rate them so highly

I bought SIM-free from clove.co.uk, and stuck an O2 PAYG SIM in it as there are O2 3G masts a couple of hundred metres from both my work and home. Depends on your usage obviously. T-Mobile seem to be doing some good deals at the moment.

I'll be sticking to my 3gs till the next iPhone after this. That is IF they manage to pull the fingers out and genuinely be great. They only know too well how to play the hype machine.

Although not an iPhone owner, I am nonetheless one of those "dubious wankers" to whom you refer. I firmly believe that Apple can do no wrong and that Steve Jobs walks on water. Brilliant marketeer that he may be, may Bill Gates burn in hell for eternity for selling the entire world a shoddy, inferior, and bug-ridden product that set the entire computer industry back ten years.

OH god, I am not starting a "mines better than yours" thread. All I know is that after years of working in IT, when a user of an Apple at home has a problem with the PC on the work desk they always break into a tired old diatribe about how shit PC's are and how great Apples are. If an Apple user has a problem with an Apple on the work desk somehow its an entirely different thing. It is more like a fluffy kitten is ill and needs nursing back to health. It makes me sick at the warped hypocrisy of it all. They are all just tools, just computers. Some are better at one job, some are better at others.

Tired old story of Apple users feeling outnumbered and so they ghettoise themselves into little support groups to touch each other in caring and slightly creepy ways.

Just look at the idiocy over the iPad. Going into a shop to buy a new electronic consumable by clapping, doing "high-fives" and congratulating each other.

Try getting LAID, it is worse than Star Trek fans!

Live long and prosper :p

I am bi-lingual. I have owned and used macs and pc's. I'm with T, no need for evangelism or idolatry it's just kit. I do however agree that Apple under it's current incarnation is a lesson in appealing design.
