I hope this is in the right section.

I bought a box of Chinchalero novillo fuerte torpedos the other day - partly for the nice smokes, partly for the box:

The box is of a pretty good build quality and came lined with lose plywood, which I removed and glued in some mitred Spanish cedar. The base and lid is lined in 1mm thick stock. The lid now fits tightly and holds humidity well. After fitting a removable divider it securely holds 6" cigars with a few 4" too. Thanks goes to SeanP for helping with the humidification.

This will be my travel companion and I'm pretty happy with it (apart from the burning on the top of the mitred edges where the router was set too fast - I may sand it out). I've ordered some self-adhesive felt for the base and a cheap digital hygrometer.

What d'ya reckon?

Great job. Just watch out that there is no odour from the glue. If in doubt leave it open and empty to air for a few days.

Nice job there Ole' chap ! And those Olivia Vs look right at home with the color combo of the box . You will defiantly enjoy them despite what others think. Keep an open mind and the world will be your oyster.

Hey, you're the one that meant they ran out of fuerte Novillos! I ordered some singles this week and they said they were sold out.:p

Have you tried one yet? Ive had a bit of a mixed experience... sometimes they're good, sometimes they taste like burning rubber and petrol all rolled in one.

The only place Ive seen them is at mysmokingshop though, has anyone else had any?

Sorry mate!

I've only had two and they've both been good - I can't wait to play petrol/rubber roulette though.

I'm really bad at reviewing cigars as I've not had that many so far and I either find myself thinking eeurgh or that's nice and thoughts of cinnamon/coffee/fresh steaming manure haven't played their part yet. I guess I'm saying that all the cigars I've smoked have tasted (to me) like cigars.

I like a large ring (gafaugh) and these taste nice and they're fairly cheap, but if anyone can recommend others to try, which fit the above preferences, I'd be grateful.

Me and my mate both had one of them yesterday - mine tasted just like a fire in a tyre yard next to an oil rig (hmm, come to think of it, that sounds like a pretty dangerous situation!). We swapped half way to check if it wasnt just me - his one tasted pretty good - well, as well as it can when youve just been abused by that monstrosity! I've had them before and theyve been quite nice - very very dark chocolate usually. Hopefully I just had a bad one.

One thing I have noticed though is that they can be a bit dry - leave them in the humi for a few weeks I think.

Drinks suggestion: I'm always one for trying weird combos , but for some reason if you smoke one of the standard Novillos with sambuca of any kind (i like it with lemonade) - you get this massive coconut flavour in your mouth. Crazy I know, but may be worth a try.

I found them dry too, but still smoked OK.
