The Scots Have Invaded

I received a package today with a familiar address. I opened the package to find some great looking smokes and some Fitzgerald's home-made Scottish Tablets.

The package is from none other than my pal, the kilt wearing Scotsman Mr. Kdot!

Some impressive smokes here:

Monte "A" - this sucker is huge
Trinidad Fundadores - not sure from what year, but this baby has some age on it.

La Flor De Cano
Party Short - one of my favs

Except for the Party Short, these are all new smokes to me!

Trinidad Fundadores, smoked the old gold banded cigar with Dremidorn about a month ago. Gold band puts it between 1998 and 2003 so some decent age on one of my favourite cigars.

You will enjoy that.

Tablet is a Scottish delicacy. Very sweet and brittle, it's mostly made with sugar and condensed milk!

Naw, it's not fudge, This is made hard. It doesn't have the "give " of fudge. In fact, some tablet is quite granular. It is ultra sweet, however. If you don't have a sweet tooth, it's best avoided!

No lard, just sugar, butter and sweetened condensed milk!

Tablet Cooking Directions:



1. Melt the butter and sugar. Add the condensed milk and the teacup of milk.


2. Stir and turn up the heat and keep stirring until it reaches boiling point.


3. Turn the heat down low and stir for 45 minutes (chair and book optional!)


4. pour mixture into a shallow bakig pan and cool.

5. Before eating, phone dentist and make appoinyment!

I have been eating and enjoying the Tablet. It is very sweet, buttery, and rich. Good stuff!!!
